VOC Monitoring method by utilizing Infrared camera and the properties of odor in Refinery plants원문보기

According to the American Petroleum Institute (API), Only 0.13% of the process equipment components in a refinery is responsible for over 90% of controllable fugitive emissions and that these leaks are largely random. Therefor it was found that the majority of the mass emissions are produced by a small number of sources. More efficient and smarter method for fugitive emissions control would more cost-effectively locate these large leakers so that they could be repaired sooner. Recently, Korean government established the standard of fugitive emission facilities in Korea Clean Air Conservation Act. In this law, company must monitor fugitive emission facilities like flange, valve, pump etc at least once a year. Since the law will be applied to the petrochemical industry first, most of Korea petrochemical plant adapted LDAR(Leak Detection and Repair) System. However, LDAR is labor-intensive and costly and even minor errors identifying needs tagging and monitoring potential leak points throughout a facility. On the other hands, Smart LDAR is cheaper, faster and smarter. For this reason, Smart LDAR method using infrared optical gas imaging techniques became popular in the petrochemical plants. This study covers efficiency, strengths and weaknesses of Smart LDAR and its potential for industrial application.
