Worry about global warming and fossil energy exhaustion is raising on global level. Most of energy we use is fossil energy like oil, coal and natural gas, taking over 85% of total energy resources. Total domestic energy used in 2010 was 141 trillion won, 15% of which or 15 trillion won is estimated to be used in the field of mutual assistance. Especially energy consumption in buildings takes about 20% of the total energy consumption, leading much attention to green home and distribution of zero energy building. The importance of external part that takes about 75% of building energy consumption is identifiable. There is much demand of improvement of external part performance through improvement of heat performance and airtightness performance in window and door system. So many researches are under progress. Structurally window and door is consisted of window frame and glass, and available to open and close. Accordingly the wind between window frame and sliding frame causes heat flow. Such gap wind takes in a way part of ventilation necessary for building, but a preceeding research identified that uncontrolled gap wind takes 20~50% of building's cooling and heating load. It has a negative effect on indoor heating environment, and a proper control and consideration is needed. In reality, the influence of gap wind on the heat load of building can not be considered correctly, and the effect of invaded wind load in building is treated carelessly. For these reasons, this research carried out airtightness test based on KS F 2292, using most frequently used sliding window and PST and LS window model that is high-performance system window type. The TRNSYS 17, a dynamic simulation was used to analyze the effect of characteristics of airtightness on cooling and heating energy of the building. Followings are the summary of the results. (1) KS F 2292 airtightness test showed that sliding window was average 3.31 ㎥/h·㎡ based on 10 Pa, PST window was 1.12 ㎥/h·㎡, and LS window was 1.47 ㎥/h·㎡. Compared to general sliding window, ventilation rate decreased about 66.2% in PST window and about 55.6% in LS window. (2) KS F 2292 airtightness test showed that PST window and LS window 1.12 and 1.47 ㎥/h·㎡ respectively on the standard of 10 Pa, and 4.66 and 8.54 ㎥/h·㎡ respectively on the standard of 100 Pa, confirming PST window has higher airtightness at the higher pressure difference. (3) After airtightness test, valid leakage area of each window could be confirmed through linear regression model. The valid leakage area of sliding window was 3.584 cm2/m2, that of PST window was 1.319 cm2/m2, and that of LS window was 1.856 cm2/m2, showing that PST window has the least valid leakage area. (4) Wintertime monthly heating load was investigated dynamic simulation. The result showed that the heating load in January was the highest of 234.8 GJ and in November it was the lowest of 105.1 GJ. (5) As for wintertime average outdoor temperature, it was 6.6℃ in November, the lowest of -3.3℃ in January. The heating load of January increased about 123.4% from that of November. (6) TMY2 type weather data in Seoul provided by TRNSYS was analyzed. Analysis showed that the sum of wind velocity from the East was the highest in wintertime, and it from the North and West was low. (7) As for the average infiltration load according to the direction based on the standard of sliding window, eastward was 0.15 W/m2, westward was 0.03 W/m2, southward was 0.14 W/m2 and northward was 0.07 W/m2. The highest was East, and then South, North and West in order. (8) In order to confirm the effect of wind environment nearby building, The maximum heating load from the lowest to the highest floor was confirmed. Based on the standard of sliding window, that on the lowest floor was 42.79 W/m2, and that on the highest floor was 54.21 W/m2 increasing 25.21%. And based on the standard of PST window, that on the lowest floor was 42.04 W/m2, and that on the highest floor was 49.08 W/m2 increasing 17.51%. (9) As for the average heating load according to the window opening types, based on the highest floor's sliding window, Eastward was 27.78 W/m2, and 27.46 W/m2 in case of PST window, 27.60 W/m2 in case of LS window. Reduction rate was 1.15% in case of PST window and 0.65% in case of LS window. (10) As for comparison of the result of the maximum infiltration load according to the window opening types, it was 12.45 W/m2 in case of sliding window, 7.89 W/m2 in case of PST window, 10.59 W/m2 in case of LS window and in case of PST window, about 36.67% decreased gradually. (11) As for comparison of the result of the maximum heating load based on the standard floor according to the window opening types, it was 52.63 W/m2 in case of sliding window, 48.06 W/m2 in case of PST window, 50.76 W/m2 in case of LS window, and in case of PST window, about 8.68% decreased gradually. Simulation result showed that in applying high-airtightness window, it had high airtightness against infiltration. Accordingly, as the height of building goes higher, it is efficient in terms of energy reduction to choose high-airtightness window that can minimize the draft. As for infiltration, this research considered sensible heat load only, but if considering latent heat load afterward, high-efficient system window is summarized to have a high energy reduction effect. As infiltration(draft) is closely related to the wind environment nearby, window should be planned according to the height of building and region to reduce energy in maximum.
