As before, the percentage of construction site accidents is still high as compared to other industrial fields. Especially, the number of new workers who fell into construction site accident is very high. Therefore, training inexperienced new workers about construction site safety in order to prevent industrial accidents is very important. Unfortunately, current safety trainings are just for formality so that most of the workers spend training time uninterested and sleepy. This shows that current safety training about construction site must be renewed immediately.
Moreover, in the scope of this report we involved and met construction workers about the current situation of construction site’s size dependent safety training, so to find out disadvantages of current training methodologies and further to improve and renew those methodlogies to more efficient forms. We have collected various kinds of documents and statistics research materials, arranged the data and analyzed them. First of all, on the basis of main research, in order to understand the current state of safety traning more clearly we have chosen 6 articles about human resource, conducted safety training 4 times, taught 3 methods of safety operations training, explained 3 benefits of safety operation training and have choese 2 types of active participation in safety training. Moreover, in order to understand current situation of construction site’s accident more clearly, 3 things are added. 208 construction workers are involved in the questions and polls. On the basis of questions and polls following results are concluded. First, those ,who are working on construction site more or less, are mostly older aged people and as compared to other industrial fields number of less educated people is very high. Second, safety regulations and trainings, training for new employees, special safety operation trainings are conducted more thoroughly and efficiently on big sized construction sites. Unfortunately these are not the cases on small sized construction sites. Third, on big sized construction sites superviser is available and responsible for safety training, whereas on small sized construction sites safety manager can supervise and check each personels operation. Fourth, those, who are working on big sized construction sites, have more knowledge about safety operation about construction works as compared to those workers who work on small construction sites. Fifth, it is evident that as compared to big sized construction sites, small construction sites conduct more active safety trainings regularly.
So because of such disadvantages this report purpose following ideas in order to improve and renew the construction site safety training methodologies so to prevent construction site accidents by conducting the trainings more efficiently. First, the training contents should be delivered in the form movie, television, radio, photo pictures and diagrams instead same old boring lectures. Using sound and sight as training medium more often will improve the content’s ease of understandability. Second, on small sized construction site, safety operation trainings, trainings for new employees and safety operation’s special trainings should be conducted more actively. The contents of such trainings should preferably match the construction site’s real situation and each worker must learn to incorporate what they learnt on the construction site. Third, now on construction sites workers who are responsible conduct the trainings usually, but
by bringing specialized training personal at least once in a month during the training session will increase the workers interest in the traning greatly and hence the trainings efficiency. Fourth, in order to prevent construction site accidents more systematic trainings are needed. Current trainings which are conducted only for formality must be avoided. More realistic and systematic trainings, that match that specific construction site’s situation and workers’ condition, should be conducted. Fifth, before starting any operation on a site where there exist least amount of probable site accident, a special training that matches the operations type must be conducted to the workers using TBM (Tool Box Meeting) methodology. On each training specialized trainer must be approached. This will increase the trainings’ efficiency.
