The purpose of this study was to propose a prototype and to develop all-in-one pants with improved activity and function for small dog. The prototype was based on the investigation in the questionnaire which included producing and sale of brand all-in-one pants, fitting and discomfort, preference of functional products. Fitting evaluation of the prototype of all-in-one pants was carried out based on the investigation and the results were as follows ;
1. Long sleeves and raglan design of the all-in-one pants were most frequently preferred from the results of the brand design and size system. Most of the design has no adjustment but button and zipper were used in case of the adjustment in the products. Cotton is mainly used for the products. In the size system, XS∼3XL of 8 sizes, neck and chest circumference, back length were widely used in the brand size.
2. In the questionnaire survey for the fitting condition of the all-in-one pants, 150 consumers were conscious of the product and have 1∼2 items purchased in pet shops or pet articles shops. Consumers who have no experience of purchasing thought discomfort of the product as well as buttock and leg parts were regarded as the most discomfort parts. Repair of the product was frequent due to the size mis-match and leg parts were mostly repaired. Consumer’s wanted-product is a functional all-in-one pants which is able to attach and detach the jacket and pants, connect the pulling rope, and built-in light emission.
3. In order to develop a prototype of the all-in-one pants, optimum allowance was applied by the measuring difference between the direct measurement and body surface diagram. Necessary sizes in drafting are length of back and front chest, armhole depth, the brest width, shoulder width, circumference of chest and neck, maximum circumference of rear legs. A curve reflecting the protruding chest of the dog was used on the front chest and factors of the brest and shoulder width. Maximum circumference of rear legs is additionally used for the optimum shape characteristics. Fitting evaluation of the developed prototype for appearance and fittabiliy were conducted with 7 points Likert scale and most of factors have more than 6 point. The final draft was established with back length, armhole depth, front chest/2cm, rear chest/2cm, chest circumference(C/2+1cm), rear neck width(N/5=★), rear neck height(★-1cm), front neck width(N/4), rear leg maximum circumference/2±1.5cm.
4. The development of functional design product for the all-in-one pants was conducted with the investigation of preference, discomfort factors, and improvement of activity. As the results of the investigation, a new functional all-in-one pants was produced which is able to attach and detach the jacket and pants, connect the pulling rope, and built-in light emission. The product was highly evaluated more than 4.6 in the 5 point Likert scale in the degree of satisfaction.
