A study on the variation of microstructure and mechanical properties with fabrication process of Mg-Li based alloys원문보기

Recently a sheet forming process of Mg alloys has been attended due to increasing demand of Mg wrought alloys for the applications of casings of mobile electronics and outer-skins of light-weight transportation. Microstructural control is essential for the enhancement of workability and formability of Mg alloy sheets. In the present study, we studied effects of Li and alloying element addition on microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-6Zn-0.6Zr-0.4Ag-0.2Ca-xLi and Mg-8Li-xAl-xSm alloys. Mg-Li alloys were prepared in mild steel crucible under the protection of mixed gas of CO2 and SF6 using commercial stock. The Mg alloy melt was held at 720℃ for 20min and then poured into a mould at 200℃. The as-cast Mg alloys were then homogenized at 350℃ for 4 hours. The homogenized alloys were then hot-extruded to a rod and plate. The extruded specimens were processed by rolling at room temperature, 100℃, 200℃ and 300℃. The microstructure of specimens was examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical microscopy (OM). The mechanical properties of the Mg alloys were maintained by a tensile test.
