Since the cellulose fiber manufacturing process using a conventional wood pulp causes the pollution problem from the hazardous chemicals, organic solvent which can dissolve the cellulous without chemical treatment got a great attention from the community. Lyocell process using non-toxic N-methyl morpholine N-oxide (NMMO) solvent was commercialized. Resulted fibers, using the NMMO solvent system, showed high physical properties.
In this study, we investigated the effect on fiber properties as a function of the spinning temperature and the draw ratio. The cellulose solution with various cencerntration (4~20 wt%) were prepared and the morphology of the prepared solutions was observed using a polarizing microscope before spinning. In addition, the complex viscosity was measured in order to observe the rheological properties in oscillation mode. Fiber spinning was conducted using the 12 wt% solution. To investigate the reinfocing effect of graphene oxide in cellulose fiber, the cellulose solution with addition of graphene oxide was also spun and compared. The manufactured fibers were characterized by tensile tester, SEM, 1D-XRD. It was observed that the fiber with lower temperature and higher draw ratio showed better physical properties. The addition of graphene oxide lowered physical properties. It is expected that the addition of graphene oxide plays a role as defects rather than reinforcing factors. In addition, although the physical properties of waste wood lyocell fibers are not good compared to V60, the production of fibers with excellent properties might be feasible with the high purity pulping process.
