The Estimation of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) - Air Pollution (AP) Integrated Emissions and their Correlation with Urban Spatial Structures in Seoul Jung, Jae Hyung (Supervisor Kwon, O Yul) Department of Environment and Energy Graduate School of Energy and Environment Seoul National University of Science and Technology This study constructed greenhouse gas (GHG) and air pollution (AP) integrated emissions inventories in Seoul during the year 2010 for estimating GHG and AP emissions, and thereby the relationship between urban spatial structures and GHG-AP integrated emissions was investigated by statistically analyzing those from 25 administrative districts of Seoul using a SPSS program (ver. 20). Finally to enhance the understanding of urban spatial structures and GHG-AP integrated emissions, this study investigated the structural equation model (SEM) via which urban spatial structures influence on spatially GHG-AP integrated emission using a AMOS program (ver. 21) in Seoul. In chapter 2, the annual GHG emission was estimated as 39,078,217 tonCO2eq, The annual AP emission was estimated as 2,924,098 tonAP. In energy sector, we constructed GHG and AP integrated emission inventories for direct and indirect sources in energy activities. The annual GHG emission was estimated as 50,539,566 tonCO2eq, of which 54.83% resulted from direct sources and the remaining 45.17% from indirect sources. In animal-vegetation sector, we applied to calculate GHG-AP integrated sink and emission. As a result, total annual GHG sink was estimated as 12,964,536 tonCO2eq, and AP sink was 23,309 tonAP. In waste sector, total GHG and AP integrated emissions were 1,499,320 tonCO2eq, 13,692 tonAP, respectively. scope 1 and scope 2 showed that GHG and AP were 825,588 tonCO2eq, 3,253 tonAP, 673,732 tonCO2eq, 10,439 tonAP in that order. Biomass burning includes open burning (waste, agriculture), residential fireplace, residential wood stove, meat cooking (beef, pork, chicken), fires (forest, incident) and cremation (human). GHG and AP integrated emissions were 3,867 tonCO2eq, 2,320 tonAP, respectively. Most of the emissions were emitted from meat cooking, incident fires and open burning of waste. Particulate matte (PM) emissions by different sectors which are surface soil sectors (playground, non-development land, Han river waterfront), vehicle driving sectors (road tyre, brake wear, road surface) and construction activity sectors (detached house, multi-family house, non-residential) were estimated. By size, TSP, PM10, PM2.5, PM1.0 showed 71,126 ton, 19,672 ton, 1,127 ton, 156 ton, respectively. In chapter 3, urban spatial structures, of which data were obtained from Seoul statistics yearbook, were classified into five categories of city, residence, environment, traffic and economy. They were further classified into 10 components of local area, population, number of households, residential area, forest area, park area, registered vehicles, road area, number of businesses and total local taxes. GHG-AP integrated emissions were estimated based on IPCC 2006 guidelines, guideline for government greenhouse inventories, EPA AP-42 and preliminary studies. The result of statistical analysis indicated that GHG and AP integrated emissions were significantly correlated with urban spatial structures. The correlation analysis results showed that registered vehicles for GHG (r=0.803, p<0.01), forest area for AP (r=0.996, p<0.01), and park area for AP (r=0.889, p<0.01) were highly significant. Three groups such as city and traffic factors, economic factor and environmental factor were identified to be the governing factors controlling GHG and AP emissions from factor analysis. The multiple regression analysis also represented that the most influencing factors on GHG and AP emissions were traffic and forest factors, respectively. 25 administrative districts of Seoul were clustered into six groups, of which each has similar characteristics of urban spatial structures and GHG-AP integrated emissions. This study indicates that there were significantly correlations between urban spatial structures and GHG-AP integrated emissions. Thus, we recommend further studies to build the validity of the relationships between urban spatial structures and GHG-AP integrated inventories as well as to construct bottom-up approach (BUA) for an understanding of emission structures in the complex urban environment. In chapter 4, from the validity results, AVE showed more than 0.5, and C.R values of GHG-AP integrated emissions for all variables were estimated as 1.96 and higher. Also, p-value was 0.005 which was significant. Based on the model fit, GHG model showed Q-value=2.649, GFI=0.662, CFI=0.838, NFI=0.796, and AP model showed Q-value=2.771, GFI=0.643, CFI=0.816, NFI=0.745. Latent variables strongly influencing on GHG-AP integrated emissions were: 1) total population in urban factor, 2) registered vehicle in traffic factor, 3) local tax in economic factor, and 4) park area in environmental factor. Direct effect on AP emission factors were economic, traffic and environmental factors and indirect factors were urban and economic factors. In addition, direct and indirect effects on GHG emission factors showed nearly the same as AP emission factors. In GHG emission model, traffic factor was shown the highest parameter, and economic factor took a role of sink for reducing GHG. In AP emission model, environmental factor was shown the highest parameter. This study was meaningful for analyzing relationships between GHG-AP integrated emissions and urban spatial structures. And the findings of this study suggested that each urban region should take a specific management of GHG-AP integrated emission control, due to its specific urban structure. For constructing more correct GHG-AP integrated emission system, future study should be constructed on more detailed and fine-tuned emission estimation.
