This study aims to investigate how to apply Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag. Recently, many researches are conducted to use the characteristics of Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag. According to the results of some previous studies, Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag has the same chemical composition as that of water-granulated blast furnace slag, and since it does not contain F-CaO or F-MgO, it is reported that Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag does not require special processing in terms of durability. Besides, sulfur ingredients inside Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag exist in a form of thiosulfate ion, and it is reported to have effect on the fluidity by suppressing the hydration of C3A out of all the minerals composing cement. In addition, it is reported that out of the minerals composing Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag, melilite and wollastonite are effective in suppressing neutralization, so it possibility as a new functional concrete admixture is sought at present. The process of making Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag into fine powder as an admixture showed a grindability time-compared grindability efficiency about 3 times than that of water-granulated blast furnace slag. When the ratio of grindability variables was substituted for Rittinger Equation, it numerically showed grindability efficiency about 2.7 times. To review its function to improve the fluidity, this study carried out an analysis of sulfur ions and an experiment on the flow of cement paste. When sulfur ingredients inside Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag came into contact with water, S2O3-2 ion, a negative ion, was eluted, and the amount of S2O3-2 ion increased depending on the elution time. As a result of the experiment on past flow, it was found that when an admixture was not added, Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag showed a higher degree of fluidity and a more improved performance of sustaining the fluidity than water-granulated blast furnace slag or Fly ash. When an admixture was added, Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag used lots of the admixture in the same flow, compared to water-granulated blast furnace slag. It seems attributed to the specific surface area increased by fine pores of Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag. On the contrary, its performance of sustaining the fluidity was superior to that of water-granulate blast furnace slag or Fly ash. It seemed because of an increased amount of the admixture and a complex effect caused by S2O32- ion. By using the improved fluidity and reduced hydration heat of Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag, this study reviewed how to apply Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag as an admixture for low-heat blended cement. When comparing a 20% Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag-substituted mix proportion with a 20% Fly ash-substituted mix proportion, this study found out that the former mix proportion showed a tendency of postponing the initial hydration heat while measuring the temporary hydration heat, but showed a relatively high amount of hydration heat at last. Moreover, as a result of measuring the compressive strength of mortar, it showed almost the same degree of strength as that of the 20% Fly ash-substituted mix proportion. When comparing the 20% Air Cooling Blast Furnace Slag-substituted mix proportion with the 20% Fly ash-substituted mix proportion during the process of measuring the adiabatic temperature of concrete, both of them showed a similar increased in adiabatic temperature. Besides, as all the 3, 7 and 28-day aging concrete specimens showed almost the same level of compressive strength as the standard mix proportion, they were all judged to be possibly used as low-heat blended cement.
