After Fukushima nuclear power plants accidents, the safety problem of nuclear power plants became a worldwide issue. Specifically, the fact that much of radioactive materials escaped from the nuclear power plants in Fukushima in the form of aerosols was revealed in research results. So in order to mitigate the damage caused by radioactive aerosols under severe accidents, it is necessary to install the appropriate safety systems in every nuclear power plant. Therefore, the filtered containment venting system (FCVS) was installed in Wolsong unit 1, Korea, and is expected to be installed in other nuclear power plants in Korea. Because collection efficiency of FCVS is affected by the aerosol behavior, the aerosol behavior is an important parameter to the design requirements of FCVS. Therefore, a tool is needed to estimate the aerosol behavior and calculate the amount of aerosols existing in the containment during a severe accident. In this study, we established aerosol behavior models based on the moment method and wrote the aerosol code in C language. The aerosol code calculates the change in the particle size distribution with time considering condensation and coagulation. We conducted condensation experiment using condensation monodisperse aerosol generator(CMAG) and coagulation experiment using a big chamber. Then, we compared the calculation results with the results obtained by condensation experiment and coagulation experiment for the verification of the aerosol code based on the moment method.
