Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the change in pain, dysfunction index and movement for patients with chronic neck pain through such intervention methods as sling exercise, biofeedback exercise and preservation treatment. Methods: This study placed a total of 46 patients with chronic neck pain into the three groups based on random allocation method: sling exercise group, biofeedback exercise group and preservation treatment. Then, this study conducted the 30-minute exercise three times a week for 6 weeks. As for measurement, this study measured the degree of pain by utilizing the visualized record scale. Also, this study evaluated the neck function through neck dysfunction index and measured the articular movement by utilizing the cervical vertebral protractor. Result: First, VAS of the neck stabilization exercise group (sling and pressure biofeedback exercises) has statistically significantly decreased by 2 points more than VAS of the preservation treatment group (p<0.001). Second, NDI of the neck stabilization exercise group has decreased by -3 points more than the preservation treatment group thereby, showing a statistical significance (p<0.001). Third, ROM of the neck stabilization exercise group has increased more statistically significantly than the preservation treatment group (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was possible to know that the sling and pressure biofeedback exercises would improve neck function more effectively than the preservation treatment method for patients with chronic neck pain. It is believed that the results of this study will have significance for the use of clinical treatment programs.
