(TEEB: The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity)

The study of ecosystem service assessment has been actively researched and developed from Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) and The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB). However, the assessment of ecosystem service in current researches which simply multiply monetary value on estimated value of ecosystem function does not necessarily reflect the views of environmental factors and socioeconomic status in ecosystem service. This study proposes the methods of evaluating ecosystem service based on environmental and socioeconomic factors. The study assesses the function of water conservation function through the water yield model in InVEST Tool, and it evaluates ecosystem service of water conservation overall to reflect the amount of precipitation and population of the area. As a result, it has been shown that a difference between the spatial distributions of the ecosystem function of water conservation that is derived from natural condition such as land cover and soil, and the spatial distribution of the ecosystem service taken account of climate and socioeconomic factors. The value of ecosystem service is large for a least-populated and light-precipitated area in the condition of similar amount of preserved watersheds from the data. Ecosystem service of water conservation should be considered and measured by the function of watershed and climate and socioeconomic factors through the study, and this evaluation process is expected to be valuable for the evaluation of ecological service in other categories.
