A study of surface discharge characteristics according to the laminated shape and conductive particles of the solid insulator in the dry-air원문보기

This study investigated the laminated shape of solid insulation in the dry-air and surface discharge characteristics of conductive particles for the insulation design of environment-friendly, high-voltage power components. For the improvement of dielectric strength, solid insulation laminated in three shapes (A, B and C), having the same creeping distance, was proposed. A surface discharge experiment was conducted at a pressure ranging from 0.1 to 0.6 MPa in a quasi-uniform electric field. In terms of the surface discharge voltage of the solid insulation laminated with the same creeping distance, B-shape was lower than A-shape while C-shape was higher than A-shape. To review this kind of difference in surface discharging voltage, this study reviewed electric field strength on the surface area and volume of the laminated solid insulation. In B-shape, surface area electric field strength increased along with an increase in surface area while electric field strength increased as the volume decreased. C-shape, where surface discharging voltage was the highest, revealed the same properties with B-shape in terms of volume electric field strength. In contrast, electric field strength was almost constant as the surface area increased. In surface discharge characteristics, the effects of conductive particles were reviewed according to their configurations among electrodes. The horizontal surface discharging voltage was higher when the conductive particles were positioned between and on both ends of electrodes than when they were configured in the middle of electrodes. The surface discharge characteristics on laminated solid insulation and conductive particles were similar in Bakelite and epoxy resin. In addition, they were interpreted based on electric field on each dielectric polarization, discharge mechanism caused by particles, and triple-point electric field. It is expected that the study results would be useful as basic data in determining superior space materials, considering the improvement of insulation performance on surface discharge and insulation performance degradation by conductive particles in environment-friendly gas-insulated switchgears that use space in the dry-air.
