Recently, parents of infants and children have increasingly used the internet to acquire child care information, and accordingly, it has created a demand for smartphone applications providing child care information (henceforth, CI apps) which satisfy the demands of the parents. Despite the demands and needs for CI apps, few studies have been conducted on CI apps. Thus, the current study aims to provide baseline data for developing CI apps which support the parenting role and are easily accessible by analyzing the current state and content of CI apps. To this end, this study first analyzed how information is shared in CI apps. The results show us that the information is shared mostly through interactions and half of them are the interaction between laypersons. Secondly, among 16 CI apps, only one is developed by a government agency, while the others are developed by companies. Furthermore, for 5 CI apps, people can use them without signing in, while for the other apps, people need to sign in to use them. Lastly, the current study also analyzed the content of the CI apps and the subcategories of each. The results show us that the content provided by the CI apps fall into the subcategories of medical care and safety, basic habits, development, education, nutrition, culture and participation, and miscellaneous, in order of frequency. Among the subcategories, the most frequently occurring are as follows: within the medical care and safety content, the subject of unusual symptoms·disease occurred most frequently; within the basic habits, sleep; within the development, physical·linguistic·cognitive·emotional·social development; within the education, teaching materials·play materials·books, play methods, and home training; within the nutrition, breast milk·powdered milk and recipe· purchasing food products; within the culture and participation, experiential activity·field work; within the miscellaneous, baby products. The current study expects our analysis on CI apps to be used as baseline data for developing CI apps, which will in turn provide information satisfying public demands and needs.
