There are frequent cases of human milk sold through internet for the infants not being able to be fed from the mother’s milk but human milk is not acknowledged as food, therefore, it is in the blind spot of law. This has direct effect on the growth of infants, and especially for infants with weak immunity, there is a possibility of being infected by pathogenic microorganism. Therefore, in this study, the number of bacteria in the human milk sold through internet, and also the coliforms contamination test was performed to verify the hygienic condition of the collected human milk, and the number of Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus were identified to verify the safety of the human milk sold in online. Thus, the human milk was purchased through online for 1 month from December 2015 to January 2016, and among the collected human milk, direct purchase was 62, and delivery purchase was 23 cases. All purchased human milk were frozen human milk, and the breast pumped period of the human milk was from September to December, 2015. Among the total of 85 samples, number of bacteria was 0.00~5.57 log CFU/mL to be diverse, and the average detection was 2.72 log CFU/mL. For coliforms, average detection was 1.15 log CFU/mL and maximum of 4.41 log CFU/mL was detected, and for Escherichia coli, high measurement was shown especially in 2 samples. In the case of Staphylococcus, it was detected in 64 samples(75%), but Salmonella and Streptococcus spp. were not detected. Regarding the purchase route, the group of 31~60 days of storage period after breast pump was detected with the highest number of bacteria, and coliforms and Staphylococcus spp. also the highest measurement in this period. As a result of this study, the human milk sold through online can have harmful effect to infants with weak immunity, and they are no verified of its safety and ingredients to have no reliability. Therefore, legal measures and systematic establishment are required to restrict personal sales and purchase, and continuous study is required on the frozen human milk.
