Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different primers to the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) of resin cements to Cobalt-Chromium(Co-Cr) dental casting alloy. Materials and Methodology. Four adhesive primers were used: Universal primer (Tokuyama, Japan), Metal primer (GC, Japan), Alloy primer (Kuraray, Japan), Metal/Zirconia primer (Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein) and two resin cements- Panavia F2.0™ (Kuraray, Japan) and G-CEM LinkAce™ (GC, Japan) were tested. Cobalt-chromium beams (n=15) were prepared from Co-Cr ingots (Remanium2001- Dentaurum, Germany) and their surfaces sandblasted with aluminum oxide (125um grain). Each primer was applied according to manufacturer’s instructions. The non-primed (NP) samples served as the control. Using a silicone mold, the metal and resin were bonded together. After light-curing, it was allowed to completely set for 24 hours, then the specimens were stored in distilled water at 37oC for 24 hours. Prior to testing, all metal-resin beams were checked under stereomicroscope. Each specimen was attached by active gripping to the microtensile tester machine and was loaded. Specimens were checked under stereomicroscope for failure mode analysis. The mean of each group was analyzed by one-way ANOVA with Tukey’s test as post hoc (p<0.05) using SPSS software(SPSS ver. 22.0, IBM, Chicago, USA). Results. The µTBS of all the groups are relatively high, with the mean microtensile bond strength ranging from 20 to 28 MPa. There was no statistically significant difference between all the groups. Conclusion. Alloy primers used in this study had no significant improvement on the microtensile bond strength of Panavia F2.0 and G-Cem LinkAce resin cement to Co-Cr alloy.
