This study discusses the fact that the current position of the taxi's definition as a study on the problems with the supply and development strategies of private taxi services may be ambiguous, but practical transportational means of citizens as a quasi-public transportation position are ranked. The summary of this study is as follows.
First, the purpose of this study is focused to analyze the various problems involved wih the realities of the taxi economic recession, such as the Busan public transportational radical development and ongoing population decline and to suggest improvement measures.
Secondly, the problem of this study is divided into the problems of governmental policies and economic, social government policies, points of vulnerability of interrelationship depending on public transportation and private taxi's supply in Busan.
The problems of private taxi's supply in Busan are to increase private taxi's traffic accident noticeably, indirect regulation and irregular working system which is not reflect the reality, and monotonous training program of taxi drivers.
The problems of public transportational mutual relations can compare and contrast bus and subway. The bus can collided with the taxi because road on the ground is used together. The government and local government support is limited because the main reason is psychological pressure by the name of if private taxi's support increase, the bus support will be reduced. Unlike the bus, the subway is less confrontation and conflict. However, there are a rate increase and the government deficit covering in operating subway, which is having a bad influence on other transportation businesses.
The vulnerable problems based on social and economic vulnerability and the government's policy are linked with the taxi fare and the taxi bay area. The problem with taxi fare is a difficult and uniform fare structure to reflect reality as a de facto regulatory charges. Also, unlike public transportation, private taxi should be profitable through self-effort.
The taxi bay area should be made steadily and is positively necessary for solving the safe on or off for passengers, transportation workers' fatigue reduction, revenue increase, and illegal parking solution arising out of the number of few taxi bay area which is built in Busan.
Thirdly, this study presented two improvements of policy and private taxi service's supply associated with the developmental strategies. That is, the preferred presentation out of taxi policy improvements is a drop in taxi runs and diversity. Also, the introduction of differentiated taxi on mountainous areas of city, the tourist taxi development plans, and a close communication of government offices and the citizens as for the supply improvement plan of private taxi's service were presented.
Finally, taxi industry and government should make steady and persistent efforts to communicate with each other through taxi public policy department, a more practical taxi policy, and professional government official promotion related to taxi.
