In this study, the PM2.5 and the heavy metals concentrations of the samples taken at the air pollution monitoring stations and the park facilities were analyzed, and the results are as follows.
1. The geometric average concentrations of the monthly PM2.5 were 26.8 ㎍/㎥ in May, 55.3 ㎍/㎥ in June, 10.3 ㎍/㎥ in July, 15.2 ㎍/㎥ in August, 11.6 ㎍/㎥ in September, 23.9 ㎍/㎥ in October, 9.8 ㎍/㎥ in November, 16.1 ㎍/㎥ in December. The PM2.5 concentrations in July, August, and November, including rain days showed a low tendency in concentration of PM2.5. This is considered the geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5 is affected by washing of rain days.
2. The geometric average concentrations of the regional PM2.5 were 24.1 ㎍/㎥ at Hwasan, 24.1 ㎍/㎥ at Sungnam, 22.1 ㎍/㎥ at Daesong, 21.1 ㎍/㎥ at Nongso, 18.3 ㎍/㎥ at Yaum, 17.1 ㎍/㎥ at Samnam. The geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5 at Hwasan monitoring station and Sungnam monitoring station which are in industrial area and commercial area for each were comparatively higher than at Yaum and Samnam monitoring station which are in residential area. Sungnam monitoring station shows high concentration of PM2.5 due to its location where the fieve to seven floors-high buildings are concentrated sithin 1 km radius from the station and Hwasan monitoring station is expected to be influenced by the pollutants from road and industrial complex due to its location next to the main road and within the industrial complex.
3. The geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5 on the misty days and the hazy days observation period was 25.4 ㎍/㎥ on the misty days and 55.3 ㎍/㎥ on the hazy days. The PM2.5 concentration was high on the hazy days and it was the lowest on the rainy days.
4. During the observation period, the geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5 at Munsu sports park showed the similar tendency to the concentration at Nongso monitoring station which is in residential area, and the geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5 at Ulsan grand park showed the similar tendency to the concentration at Sungnam monitoring station which is in commercial area. The geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5 at Munsu sports park and Ulsan grand park showed slightly lower than the geometric average concentrations of PM2.5 at air pollution monitoring stations.
5. The concentrations of heavy metals were low in Jly and November including the rainy days, and it has tendency of low concentrations of heavy metals in September as well. Not only the concentrations of heavy metals in July, September, and November showed the similar tendency to the geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5 but also concentration of heavy metal of PM2.5 was also affected by washing of rainfall. The concentration of Pb, Cr, Fe sere higher in December than June as a result of suppressed air pollutants from heating and burning fuel because of the low mixing depth caused by low temperature and slow wind speed.
6. During the whole period of observation, every observed heavy metal item was high in Hwasan monitoring station which is in industrial area. The results are assumed to be affected by the pollutants from the industrial complex. Every observed heavy metal item was low at Sungnam monitoring station which is in commercial area, and this result didn't have the same tendency as the geometric average concentrations of the PM2.5. It is assumed to be less affected by the artificial pollutants related with the cars because the buildings aare concentrated nearby in spite of its location near main roads. Most of the Observed heavy metal item in monitoring stations in residential area showed the similar tendency.
7. Heavy metal concentrations excluding Fe and Cd at Munsu sports park during the sampling, were half of the average concentration of the nonindustrial area(commercial and residential area). During the observation period of Ulsan grand park, every observed heavy metal item was similar to or lower than the average concentration of the nonindustrial area(commercial and residential area).
