Domestic Nuclear power plants use water to cool down the heat generated by the fission of uranium atoms, and this method is excellent in terms of economic and safety. Most of the nuclear power plants use the water(H2O) as coolants and typically consist of two independent coolant systems separated by the primary and secondary systems. The reactor coolant system consists of the reactor vessel, the steam generator, the reactor coolant pump and pipes and transfers the vast heat generated by the fission into the steam generator. In addition, the coolant system performs the core cooling function in order to avoid damage to the reactor core caused by loss of coolant accident caused by break of the tube. In the case of pipes of the coolant system in the primary system, the coolant temperature is heated up to 327℃. Because the coolant flows at high speeds, cracks and defects of pipes occur due to abrasion, erosion, corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Also, due to the reduced thickness of the secondary system by the coolant, pipes are ruptured and the coolant is leaked. The reduction of the coolant does not remove the heat from the core in the accident, preventing the safety of the fuel, and also provides a secondary cause of radiation leakage. Therefore, it is very important to monitor the leakage of coolant leakage from the reactor coolant system to prevent leakage of coolant from the reactor coolant system and to mitigate the coolant loss of the coolant. In this study, we fabricated a distributed multi-channel fiber-optic temperature sensor(FOTS) based on a silicone oil to detect the fine leakage of coolant pipes using the temperature difference from the coolant leakage. The fabricated sensor have the advantage of being able to measure in real time and not be restricted to the size of pipes and is capable of monitoring a wide range of leakage ranges from a long distances. The fabricated sensor is foundation of Fresnel reflection that reflection light generated by difference refractive index from interface of optical fiber and contact substance then amount of Fresnel reflection accordance with difference refractive index. We measured the modified optical powers of the light signals reflected from the temperature sensing probe placed inside of the water with a thermal variation from 5 to 70℃. Because the reference of value of the light power is changed due to the influence of the external environment, we measured the optical power of the sensing probe using a subtraction method. The reversibility and reproducibility of the FOTS were also evaluated.
