In particular, terminal cancer patients experience a psychological change as they had been fight against the cancer for long time and face the death in soon relatively which lead negative emotions to feel. Along with it, the major caregivers, their families also experience the psychological struggling. The lives they have can be a time of significant meaning in their lives. For this can be an opportunity to define their relationship through love, forgiveness and reconciliation of family and to imbues the new meaning to the experiences in past. The time that the terminal cancer patient and the family spend together sometimes turns out to be the last moment that never comes back after the death of the patient. The family reunited chance in this period help not only the patient to round off his/her life meaningful, but also the family remaining to have a great source to live after the death of the patient. There is a hospice palliative care system in Korea currently that cares physical, psychological and social and spiritual struggles of terminal cancer patients and their families comprehensively. The hospice palliative care consists of multidisciplinary team with the professionals from different fields. An art therapy of them, which uses nonverbal art mediums in psychological social approach enables dense understanding between the family members as it decreases the defense and improves the communication between the cancer patient and his/her family. Through it, this provides the psychological support as a bridge to help them express their sincere heart to each other. The domestic advanced researches that studied about the art therapy in hospice palliative care has been built up as researches to prove the influence and the effects of the art therapy to the hospice palliative care patients. Besides the study about the influence and the effects of the art therapy with the terminal cancer patients and their family for their embrace and united lives, study on the most important therapeutic factor the art therapist is necessary. Thus, to have better understanding of art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the hospice palliative care scene that demands the sensibility and flexibility of the art therapist, this study aims to understand in depth the subjective experiences of art therapists who had art therapy. The purpose of this study is understand the meaning and the essence of the experience of art therapists who had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care by analyze their subjective experiences. Through this, we hope this investigates the uniqueness of the art therapy in hospice palliative care, provides the basic study material about the art therapy in hospice palliative care to art therapists and further more, expands the research scope of the art therapeutics. The research question of this study is ‘What is the experience of art therapist whom had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care and the meaning and the essence of it? In order to investigate the subjective experiences of art therapists whom had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care, the qualitative research was used for this study. And to grasp the meaning of the experience more essentially and in depth, we used an analytical phenomenology methodology of Max van Manen, that focuses on the originality of the phenomenon turns back to itself. Subject of this study was 11 therapists with art therapeutic master’s degree who have art therapy in the field from 5 months to 8 years. And we collected their experiences through 1 to 3 times of in depth interview from June to November 2016. In the result by analysis through the analytical phenomenology methodology of Max van Manen, 10 of essential themes and 33 sub themes were concluded. The essential themes that appeared in the experiences of the art therapists with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care are as below. , , , , , , , , and . The research result for the experiences of the art therapists whom had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care is as follow. At the scene of the hospice palliative care, the art therapists in the process of art therapy with the cancer patients and their family; First, they face the difficulties of therapy environment as they encounter unpredictable variables such as deterioration in health or death of cancer patients and feeling their limitations. Also, encountering the existential issue the death, they experience the psychological overwhelming however, in the process of make utmost effort to improve the communication for the cancer patients and their family, they concretely appreciate the value and the meaning of the art therapy in hospice palliative care and understand their own role. Second, as the art therapists share experiences with the cancer patients and their family in the limited time left, that they share love to each other through the art therapy, they are filled with the emotions and deeply moved. Third, they understand the therapeutic strength that the art therapy may only have, while they have art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care. And they understand the art piece of the cancer patient can be left as a part of the patient to be the channel to remember the patient after the death and value it. Fourth, in the process of art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care, the art therapists look back themselves and their family relations, learns the value of present life and plan their future life. In other words, they rather learn the life from the death, enrich their inner world and grow one step up as an art therapist. Providing the experience materials of the art therapists who had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care, this study may contribute to the medical art therapy field and art therapeutics likely as below. This study provides the better understanding as provide the experience materials for the experiences of the art therapists who had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care. Through this, first, this provides the research basic materials to the art therapists and related professionals in the hospice palliative care fields. Second, this can be utilized as a subsidiary material for the art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care. Third, this can help better understanding about the art therapy with the cancer patients and their family. The implication of this study in the art therapeutic is as follow. First, this focuses on the art therapy not only for the cancer patients but also the family in hospice palliative care scene. Second, this examined the art therapists are the significant factor to open the chance of communication in the time of art therapy with the family.

For this can be an opportunity to define their relationship through love, forgiveness and reconciliation of family and to imbues the new meaning to the experiences in past. The time that the terminal cancer patient and the family spend together sometimes turns out to be the last moment that never comes back after the death of the patient. The family reunited chance in this period help not only the patient to round off his/her life meaningful, but also the family remaining to have a great source to live after the death of the patient. There is a hospice palliative care system in Korea currently that cares physical, psychological and social and spiritual struggles of terminal cancer patients and their families comprehensively. The hospice palliative care consists of multidisciplinary team with the professionals from different fields. An art therapy of them, which uses nonverbal art mediums in psychological social approach enables dense understanding between the family members as it decreases the defense and improves the communication between the cancer patient and his/her family. Through it, this provides the psychological support as a bridge to help them express their sincere heart to each other. The domestic advanced researches that studied about the art therapy in hospice palliative care has been built up as researches to prove the influence and the effects of the art therapy to the hospice palliative care patients. Besides the study about the influence and the effects of the art therapy with the terminal cancer patients and their family for their embrace and united lives, study on the most important therapeutic factor the art therapist is necessary. Thus, to have better understanding of art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the hospice palliative care scene that demands the sensibility and flexibility of the art therapist, this study aims to understand in depth the subjective experiences of art therapists who had art therapy. The purpose of this study is understand the meaning and the essence of the experience of art therapists who had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care by analyze their subjective experiences. Through this, we hope this investigates the uniqueness of the art therapy in hospice palliative care, provides the basic study material about the art therapy in hospice palliative care to art therapists and further more, expands the research scope of the art therapeutics. The research question of this study is ‘What is the experience of art therapist whom had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care and the meaning and the essence of it? In order to investigate the subjective experiences of art therapists whom had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care, the qualitative research was used for this study. And to grasp the meaning of the experience more essentially and in depth, we used an analytical phenomenology methodology of Max van Manen, that focuses on the originality of the phenomenon turns back to itself. Subject of this study was 11 therapists with art therapeutic master’s degree who have art therapy in the field from 5 months to 8 years. And we collected their experiences through 1 to 3 times of in depth interview from June to November 2016. In the result by analysis through the analytical phenomenology methodology of Max van Manen, 10 of essential themes and 33 sub themes were concluded. The essential themes that appeared in the experiences of the art therapists with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care are as below. , , , , , , , , and . The research result for the experiences of the art therapists whom had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care is as follow. At the scene of the hospice palliative care, the art therapists in the process of art therapy with the cancer patients and their family; First, they face the difficulties of therapy environment as they encounter unpredictable variables such as deterioration in health or death of cancer patients and feeling their limitations. Also, encountering the existential issue the death, they experience the psychological overwhelming however, in the process of make utmost effort to improve the communication for the cancer patients and their family, they concretely appreciate the value and the meaning of the art therapy in hospice palliative care and understand their own role. Second, as the art therapists share experiences with the cancer patients and their family in the limited time left, that they share love to each other through the art therapy, they are filled with the emotions and deeply moved. Third, they understand the therapeutic strength that the art therapy may only have, while they have art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care. And they understand the art piece of the cancer patient can be left as a part of the patient to be the channel to remember the patient after the death and value it. Fourth, in the process of art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care, the art therapists look back themselves and their family relations, learns the value of present life and plan their future life. In other words, they rather learn the life from the death, enrich their inner world and grow one step up as an art therapist. Providing the experience materials of the art therapists who had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care, this study may contribute to the medical art therapy field and art therapeutics likely as below. This study provides the better understanding as provide the experience materials for the experiences of the art therapists who had art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care. Through this, first, this provides the research basic materials to the art therapists and related professionals in the hospice palliative care fields. Second, this can be utilized as a subsidiary material for the art therapy with the cancer patients and their family in the scene of hospice palliative care. Third, this can help better understanding about the art therapy with the cancer patients and their family. The implication of this study in the art therapeutic is as follow. First, this focuses on the art therapy not only for the cancer patients but also the family in hospice palliative care scene. Second, this examined the art therapists are the significant factor to open the chance of communication in the time of art therapy with the family.
