Aging due to changes in social structure and westernized lifestyle changes are increasing the incidences of cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is characterized by the difficulty of curing and complications associated with exposure to the disease, and it is necessary to maintain it after onset. As the treatment technology develops, the rate of death due to cardiovascular disease is decreasing but because the effect of initial treatment is getting better, the number of chronic patients is increasing. Therefore, the number of hospitalization is increasing in the course of treatment, and readmission increases the expenditure of medical expenses, resulting in a decrease in the quality of life of the patient as well as the family. However, studies have shown that proper exercise, eating habits and lifestyle improvements can reduce readmission and manage disease effectively. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze readmission related factors considering various aspects such as lifestyle. This may provide an effective approach to management of cardiovascular disease and ultimately improve the quality of life of cardiovascular disease patients. For this, secondary analysis of factors related to readmission of cardiovascular disease patients using the National Health and Nutrition Survey data collected from 2007 to 2014 was conducted. Through review of preliminary studies, factors related to readmission were categorized as demographic factors, physical and mental health factors, and lifestyle factors. Extracted demographic factors include age, sex, marital status, education level, residential area, number of family members, economic activity status, occupation type, income level (individual / household), and insurance type, physical and mental health factors include hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, renal disease, thyroid disease, arrhythmia, depression, and level of stress, and lifestyle factors include smoking (direct/ indirect), drinking, body mass index, weight change, weight control efforts, maintenance of hypertension medication, and maintenance of hyperlipemia medication. As a result of the study, readmission of cardiovascular disease patient was most commonly due to a disease of the same family and within cardiovascular disease of the same family, myocardial infarction and angina pectoris were the most common causes of hospitalization. Thus it was found that prevalence of cardiovascular disease has high likelihood of requiring continuous therapy including repeated hospitalization due to chronicity of the disease. In readmission related factors, economic activity, individual income level, dyslipidemia, and depression were selected in the final model. The main implication of the study is that economic activity status and income level were found to be factors that had significant relation and that socioeconomic status indicators are significantly related to the readmission of cardiovascular disease patients. It is believed that the economic level influences the incidence of readmission due to the effective management of cardiovascular disease in terms of accessibility of information and medical use, and because economic burden of readmission may play a role in subsequent management. Therefore, there is a need for a health care direction that can help practical difficulties in the management of cardiovascular disease for economically vulnerable classes that can be placed in blind spots. Also, it is thought that nursing approach to establish a health care plan for prevention by providing information on disease including lifestyle habits appropriate to the level of the subjects is important. The implication of this study is the attempt to research readmission related factors in a situation where there is insufficient research on readmission of cardiovascular disease patients. However, there is a limitation in that causality is not taken into consideration in readmission related factors because of the use of data collected by cross–sectional survey. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct analysis to identify risk factors for readmission in the future and it will be important to reduce the burden of medical fees for cardiovascular disease patients as reducing readmission and ultimately improve quality of life through diverse research on cardiovascular disease readmission.
