This study aimed to draw residential satisfaction factors of transferred public institutions residents in Gwangju-Cheonnam innovation city, the biggest city among the innovation cities, analyze the impact of such satisfaction factors on settlement and recommendation intention, and provide methods to activate the innovation city.
As analysis method, residential satisfaction influence factors were analyzed by setting the structural equation model on the assumption that there is a structural causal relationship with settlement and recommendation intention, and to analyze the difference in recognition on residential satisfaction depending on demographic characteristics, T-test and ANOVA were carried out.

As a result of verifying the research hypothesis predicting that eight residential satisfaction factors set in this study would have an impact on overall residential satisfaction of innovation city residents due to the transfer of public institutions, it was found that satisfaction with accessibility factor, managerial factor, community factor, educational factor, and economic factor had a positive (+) significant impact on overall residential satisfaction. On the other hand, to look at the absolute size of residential satisfaction of significant influence variables, the educational factor was the highest, followed by economic factor, managerial factor, community factor, and accessibility factor. Therefore, it appeared that the overall satisfaction of transferred public institution residents was influenced the most by educational factor and the accessibility within the innovation city was the lowest in terms of influence.

However, the influx of the population to innovation city is judged as not active due to lack of understanding of the advantages and characteristics of such an innovation city, and to complement this, it is necessary to consider marketing plans to do aggressive promotion of the unique advantages of innovation city and experience excellent settlement environment.
Second, the overall residential satisfaction of transferred public institution residents with innovation city was rather high, but long-term settlement intention and recommendation intention, i.e. aggressive demand creation factor were low. This phenomenon is caused by lack of higher education environment for children, one of the major factors, that appear inevitably due to the national university entrance system in Korea. Therefore, for active influx of population to innovation city, it is necessary to attract foreign language high schools, prestigious private schools, etc for creating an educational environment that can provide higher education.
Third, as innovation city is a relatively small-scale city and has limitations in that it does not provide all services including convenience and culture necessary for modern life like in a large city, its connection with urban hinterland and role can be essential. Therefore, it is necessary to improve accessibility to urban hinterland by integrating administrative districts, expanding traffic networks, and introducing shuttle bus system so that the connection of innovation city with urban hinterland can be a unrepulsive life zone. Furthermore, in case the distance with urban hinterland is far like in Gwangju·Jeonnam innovation city, it is necessary to promote the activation of stagnant business district by attracting the demand of urban hinterland while satisfying the needs of innovation city by attracting advanced commercial facilities including department store and large shopping mall.
Finally, as it appeared that managerial factor and community factor in apartment complex had an impact on residential satisfaction, it seems desirable to organize a community activity within the complex and establish a professional and integrated management system that can provide support or entrust management to a specialized real estate asset management firm that can provide such services.
