Since the signing of the Paris Agreement, countries around the world are making various efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy policies. In order to meet GHG reduction targets by industry, Fuel cell, and gas combined power generation, which uses natural gas with a low carbon ratio, which is the fuel of the thermal power plant, will play a major role in the future change of the environment. Korea, which relies on imports of most natural gases, transports it from the mountain to the -162℃ cryogenic liquefaction state for transportation and storage, and supplies the gasification process from the gas bases of Pyeongtaek, Incheon, Tongyoung and Samcheok to the customers. However, there are no cases where cold energy is directly applied to the power plant facilities. Recently, a power plant has been operating a 10 MW collection facility that collects carbon dioxide from flue gas discharged from the power plant and is commissioning the construction of a facility that liquefies the captured carbon dioxide to 150 tons per day. However, by using a compressor is used a high-pressure motor as the main energy source for the CO2 liquefaction process, the consumption electric power per ton of carbon dioxide accounted for more than 65%, using fossil fuel for carbon dioxide storage. In order to reduce the amount of fossil fuel consumed, the researchers started to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide by improving the energy efficiency. In this study, the concept for establishing and operating a systematic cold energy system has not yet been established. However, in order to design a cold energy system utilizing liquefied natural gas cold energy and to utilize the cryogenic cold energy efficiently, A cold energy system considering safety and efficiency is proposed. For this purpose, the effect of carbon dioxide system components on the CO2 liquefaction due to power and operation changes was modeled using the commercial program ASPEN HYSYS, and the Peng-Robinson equation of state was selected for thermodynamic calculation. The existing system consists of two carbon dioxide compressors and two 1.35 MW heat exchangers with motor capacity, and the working fluid ammonia required for CO2 liquefaction is used. For the design of cold energy system, the input variable conditions were compared and analyzed in terms of the liquefied natural gas composition ratio, the state change (liquid / gas), the outlet temperature, the operating pressure and the carbon dioxide outlet temperature, the working fluid and the supply pressure. In conclusion, it can be seen that the use of liquefied natural gas with cold energy reduces the daily power consumption required by existing facilities by more than 95%, and when the working fluid state change is used in system design using cryogenic cold energy, it is possible to optimize the size of the equipment.
