Since children’s linguistic skills affect the children from adapting to socio-cultural environment by improving social communication skill along with cognitive development, the development of child’s linguistic skills should be treated importantly by the children education institute. The purpose of this study is to find a helpful educational method to linguistic expression and story comprehension skills which are the crucial factors in development of child’s linguistic skills. Children-driven story sharing activity is used for the educational method. This is because children-driven story sharing enables active expansion in children’s mind and it helps to acquire knowledge in a variety of ways. Riddles which are relatively easy and interesting approach were used for the types of children-driven story sharing activities. In addition, this study intends to study on whether this educational method derives the development of peer competence between children since there are many interactions between children in children-driven story sharing activity. In this study, 40 children under four from kindergarten A and B in U metropolitan city were selected as experimental group and comparison group with 20 children in each group respectively. The experimental group performed children-driven story sharing activity using riddles while the comparison group performed teacher-driven story sharing activity based on Nuri course. The measurement of linguistic expression skills, story comprehension skills, and interaction in peer group of the experimental group and the comparison group utilized test tool for linguistic expression skills developed by Yuyeong Jeon (2011), measurement tool for story comprehension skills by Seonok Park (2014), and measurement tool for interaction in peer group by Eunna Uhm (2006). The study was conducted twice every week from January 5, 2017 to March 30, 2017 for 22 sessions. As a result of the study, first of all, children-driven story sharing activity group was found to have made more statistically significant development than teacher-driven story sharing activity group in sub-factors of linguistic expression skills such as describing a scene, commanding a modifier, utilizing words and all of the linguistic expression skills. Children under four which are the subjects of this study are in the stage between knowing certain vocabularies and complexly constructing expressions. Thus, it can be seen that the children-driven story sharing activity at this stage gave children a chance to depict a scene by themselves or command a modifier or utilize various words. Second, as a result of analyzing the effect on story comprehension skills, children-driven story sharing activity group showed higher scores in story comprehension skills than the comparison group. It can be predicted that the result of this study is due to the educational effect of children from children-driven story sharing activity utilizing simple riddles that are easily approachable. In other words, the process of children making a story themselves with an interest and trying to convey the story shows an effective possibility not only to the transmitter but also to the listening children. Third, as a result of analyzing influence of children-driven story sharing activity on children’s interaction in peer group, there was no statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the comparison group on both linguistic interactions and non-linguistic interactions. In this study, it was thought that interaction in peer group would be increased based on the thinking that children-driven story sharing activity might relatively have more opportunity of interaction, but the results showed that it is not significant. Through this, it can be assumed that unlike the simple single program in this study, there is a change in children’s interaction in peer group in a series of long-term process such as cooperation, conflict, reconciliation, etc. between children.
