The main purpose of this investigation is to recycle 100% of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) to satisfy the quality standards of asphalt pavement. To reach this goal, it is necessary to develop some anti-stripping additives which allow the production of a new material that meets the standards of road pavement. It is expected that this technology will greatly alleviate the construction waste issue and save energy. In this study, we have synthesized some new anti-stripping agents that successfully avoided the peeling of aggregate and binder due to the moisture damage. The new additives have been generated through the amide reaction by mixing different amine samples [e.g., diamines (Ethylenediamine, 1,6-Hexanediamine, and 1,12-Dodecanediamine), polyamines (Diethylenetriamine, Triethylenetetramine, Tetraethylenepentamine, and Pentaethylenehexamine)] with soybean oil. The new amide products have been confirmed by using FT-IR and 1H-NMR. To satisfy the middle temperature pavement requirement, some warm-mix asphalt agents (WMA agents) are needed. These later were produced by compounding the amide products with soybean oil as a softening agent which will reduce the asphalt hardness. To insure good plasticity and flexibility, the styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) was added to the warm-mix asphalt agents, creating thereby modified warm-mix asphalt agents. SARA analysis was carried out to assess the change in chemical composition during aging and mixing of asphalt with different additives. It was noticed that the resin fraction in RAP was increased after aging, however the other components such as saturates, aromatics, and asphaltenes slightly diminished. The Tensile Strength Ratio (TSR) and Bitumen Bond Strength (BBS) results confirmed that aging did not take place due to the additives effect. Also, TSR and BBS tests demonstrated that the moisture sensitivity of anti-stripping agents-modified binders has been improved compared to that of controls (e.g., RAP and aged asphalt). Furthermore, the tendency of recovery of tensile strength due to the difference in chemical structure of anti-stripping agents was confirmed. Interestingly, it was noted from TSR test that the anti-stripping agents (e.g., Tetraethylenepentamine-base WMA agent, Pentaethylenehexamine-base WMA agent) improved the strength of RAP specimens. Meanwhile, the BBS revealed that the incorporation of all additives enhanced the strength of aged bitumens. In conclusion, it is recommended to use the new synthesized anti-stripping agents with RAP or aged asphalt in environment where there is a significant change between wet and dry conditions. This will strength the road pavement and extend its service life.
