This study designed an optical system using a common aperture encompassing an electro-optical band (0.6 ~ 0.8 µm), a mid-infrared band (3.6 ~ 4.9 µm), and Nd-YAG laser (1.06 µm) in order to minimize the size of a optical system. This optical system is constructed to freely move in pitch (moving left and right) and roll (moving front and back). This optical system has an advantage over previous optical systems that it can omit the co-registration because this optical system aligns the roll axis and different optical systems use the common aperture while rotating an axis. The presented optical system is composed of four parts: a fore-optics, an infrared optics, an electro-optics, and a laser optics. Since the fore-optics is in the electro-optical band, the mid-infrared band, and the laser wavelength range, it was designed with considering the material having a high transmittance in a wide wavelength range. The detector of the infrared optics has a 1280 × 1024 pixel array with a single pixel size of 15 × 15 µm. Moreover, this study selected a product equipped with a cooling type coldstop with f/5.3 in order to minimize noise. An infrared optics has a dual field of view: a wide view (5.40 × 4.32°) and a narrow view (1.50 × 1.20°). Moreover, it is composed of relay lens groups selected for minimizing the number of the zoom lens group and the object lens and it was designed to maintain the efficiency of the detector and the coldstop while changing the view. The study selected a detector for the electro-optical band, which has a 1280 × 1024 pixel array with a single pixel of 5.5 × 5.5 µm. This product has the detection range of 0.6 - 0.8 µm. The optics has a field of view of 1.50 × 1.20°. The location of the stop was designed to be close to the detector with considering the laser optical system. The laser optical system was designed in two parts: a laser transmitting optics and a laser receiving optics. It uses the same optical path with the fore-optics and the electro-optics. In order to satisfy the laser bean size of 8 m at the front 40 km position, this study designed a light-emitting system with a divergence angle of 0.2 mrad and it also designed a light-receiving system to have a full field of view on a detector surface of the size of 0.2 × 0.2 mm, a single pixel. This study conducted athermalization and Narcissus analyses in order to evaluate the effects of thermal effects on the image during the infrared optics analysis of the optical system. The athermalization analysis was carried out by evaluating the focal move and residual high-order wavefront aberration based on the operating temperature −55 ~ 50℃. The optimal compensator was selected by performing a sensitivity analysis using the Zernike polynomial expression. When MFT resolution considering the optimal movement of the selected compensator was analyzed, it was confirmed that it maintained the over 10% performance on the axis at the 33 lp/mm, which is the requirement, over the entire operating temperature. The results of Narcissus analysis confirmed that it was designed to maintain the Narcissus induced temperature difference (NITD) value equal to or below 1.5℃. A sensitivity analysis was conducted for the electro-optics using the Zernike polynomial expression and the optimal compensator was selected. It was confirmed that it had the linearity even with axial displacement of 1mm. It is expected that it will easily satisfy the requirements of an optical system while aligning the optical system. This study explains the structure, design method, and analysis method of an optical system with a common aperture at multiple wavelengths.
