In this paper, we analyzed novels published in serial form in the 1970s and 80s by novelists Choi In-ho and Park Bum-shin. This work aims to weigh the meanings of the works and to redefine their meaning.
First, in this book, we examined the sociology of literature of literature by comparing the social aspects of the 1970s with the novels. Later, the study examined the possibility of literary sociology in popular novels.
Chapter 3 analyzed space, people, and world view based on the above discussion to see how novels reflect social situations at that time. In chapter 1, we explained the present state of society, " urbanization, " and analyzed the urban space. To this end, the first approach was to classify types of people into inner city people and outsiders in terms of geography. All of the people in the analysis were experiencing failure and frustration in urban spaces, and this experience further emphasized the inhumanity and exclusion of cities as individuals lost their place.
In chapter 2, we looked at the relationship between industrialization and women. Women were consumed and exploited by men's animal desires. In the case of male characters, they hide themselves or resist violently due to the uniform demands of a secularized society and immoral acts of violence.
Chapter 3 examined the relationship between contemporary social status and the work's world view based on the dark side of urban space presented in chapters 1 and 2 and the failure of young people. It confirmed Choi's passive attitude and Park's disenchantment.
These analyses confirmed that these works reflect and depict modern society. Also, by discovering the literary potential of this work, I confirmed that various researches on these novels are possible.
Hopefully, the project will clear up misunderstanding about Choi In-ho and Park Bum-shin and will serve as an opportunity for various researches.
