In this paper, a new driving circuit of auxiliary switch for active snubber type quasi resonant flyback converter was proposed, which is known to be suitable for small and medium power capacity. Through steady-state analysis and a prototype, test results of the characteristics analysis were reported. Although the auxiliary switch of the conventional active snubber type flyback converter is composed only of the P-Channel switch, the N-Channel switch and the auxiliary winding type active snubber were newly proposed to complete a total of three active snubber type flyback converter circuits. The conventional P-channel switch type circuit method is simple in structure, but it is difficult to apply a high input voltage, and the N-Channel switch type circuit method has a complicated configuration although the input voltage is not limited. The auxiliary winding type circuit has a disadvantage in that the size of the transformer increases even though the configuration is simple.
In this paper, the operating characteristics of all three flyback converters were simulated and by comparing the switching characteristics with the theoretical waveforms of the 120W class prototype, it was confirmed that high power conversion efficiency was still maintained. In addition, efficiency, power loss, and output voltage are compared according to each switching type in the experimental circuit. From the results, it was judged that the proposed active snubber type partial resonant flyback converter has practicality compare to that of the conventional circuit, and the study will be carried out to compare the manufacturing cost and size of each method under the same output condition.
