The term "4th Industrial Revolution" represents an innovative change as advanc ed information and communication technologies such as artificial intelligence, Intern et of Things, big data and mobile devices converge across the economy and socie ty. Already integrated into many fields of social, economic, cultural and education, including automation of various goods production, digitalized flat products, convenie nt life using the Internet of Things, and education using virtual reality and augmen ted reality. In the defense industry sector, the government is seeking ways to survi ve through constant innovation and change amid the fourth industrial revolution.
In the 4th Industrial Revolution era, export of the defense industry is a futuristic industry with high potential that can be a new source of national security and national economic growth through convergence of various high-tech technologies.
Korea has developed the defense industry since the 1960s, raising its global status as the world's 15th largest exporter of defense industries. It is exporting T-50s, K-9 self-propelled guns and submarines. The export environment of the defense industry is maintained internationally centered on self-interest, and is currently at the stage of the investigation with the introduction of troop reduction and fourth industrial revolution technology, and the prospects for the export of the defense industry are not bright.
Currently, due to problems in the export of the Korean defense industry, the goal has not been clearly selected, the application of rigid and uniform R&D methods, lack of awareness of advanced technologies, lack of knowledge of weapons system, lack of concept of data.
The following are solutions to these problems and ways to export and enhance the defense industry during the fourth industrial revolution.
First, for the purpose of selecting targets, the current status should be analyzed for GDP, relationship with Korea, potential conflict, budget for weapons acquisition, connectivity with defense products, and the selection of potential export partners, and the status of conflict.
Second, we expand the application of evolutionary R&D methods by moving away from rigid and uniform R&D in terms of means. The development of defense robots that applied unmanned magnetization technology to the fourth industrial revolution, digital platforms that use big data and IoT technology, training systems that use virtual and augmented reality technologies, and fuel cell that is applied with new energy technology Finally, we must work on the means of localizing these technologies.
Third, in terms of methods, industries, schools and research institutes should establish cooperative communities, improve defense technology ownership and technology fee systems, and improve export support systems for defense industries that enhance marketing and promotion support.
In this paper, I analyzed Korea's export strategies in terms of goals, means and methods. To define the term strategy, three elements are necessary
To intensify the study of export strategies in the defense industry, it is logical to analyze the methods of analysis as a component of the strategy. I expect the defense industry to utilize its articles in its export strategy research.
