The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the fitness factors for fall prediction between fall experience and non-falling experience and to verify the effects of fall prediction for fitness factors between fall experienced and non-fall experienced users through an eight-week fall prevention exercise program.
Among of 530 participants, 52 fall experience group, 100 non-falling fall risk group and 100 non-falling fall safety group were selected for this purpose. The group selected the controlled and the exercised group for 8 weeks of falling prevention exercise program. In addition, the falling prediction fitness factor of ABC scale, TUG, m-CTSIB, systemic reaction, grip strength, leg strength, and leg muscle mass were examined pre- and post- test for 8 weeks. Data collected by pre- and post-examination were used One Way ANOVA to analyze the differences in the fitness factors of fall prediction between the three groups by Window SPSS 25.0 statistical programs. After eight weeks of fall prevention, used Tow-Way Repeated measures ANOVA to verify the effects of measurement timing and interaction between groups on changes in control and exercise groups. The statistical significance level (α) was .05.
The results obtained through the above research procedure are as follows. First, the FE Group (falling experience group) displayed lower physical results than NFFS Group (non-falling fall safety group) in all of the fall prediction physical factors tested in this study, TUG, full body response, balance and muscle strength. Second, the TUG test can show that balance, systemic response, and strength among the fitness factors for fall prediction. Third, the FE Group showed the effects of exercise in the whole body response, grip strength, leg strength, ABC scale, and TUG among the fitness factors for fall prediction. Fourth, the NFFR group (non-falling fall risk group) has improved the most in fitness factors for fall prediction through exercise. Fifth, the NFFS group has only improved muscle strength among the fitness factors for fall prediction through exercise.
In this study, there are different levels and items of fitness factors that cause falls between falling experience and non-falling experience. In future, when it’s test for fall with a simple fall assessment tool, it will help to predict the causes of falls, not just falls risk screening. .It is also said that it will help develop activities for the elderly, and provide customized fall exercise programs according to the fitness factors for fall prediction.
