The purpose of this study is to sub-divide K-Pop girl group dance movements, categorize them, construct a classification system, and materialize a visualization model. Study Ⅰ was conducted to construct a classification system for K—Pop girl group dance movements and to materialize a visualization model. Study Ⅱ aimed to materialize a classification system model through type analysis of K—Pop girl group dance movements. K-Pop girl group dance movements are largely divided into large categories, medium categories, and small categories and medium categories of the upper body are categorized into the head, shoulder, chest, torso, waist, elbow, wrist, and fingers and medium categories of the lower body are the pelvis, legs, knees, feet, and sitting motions, and medium categories of other parts include step movements and point movements, totalling seventeen categories. After 55 K-Pop girl group dance videos were categorized through a Tagging Panel, a total of 141 movements were categorized into 84 upper body movements, 35 lower body movements, and 22 other (step, point) movements. The categorized K-Pop girl group dance movements materialized a visualization model using visualization of a ‘Radial Rendrogram’ in D3.js. Analysis of single movements in K-Pop girl group dance movements showed that a total of 10,132 movements were categorized into 6,682 upper body movements, 3,115 lower body movements, and 335 other movements. Combined movements of K-Pop girl group dance movements were categorized into a total of 2,256 combined movements and Girls’ Generation’s ‘I got a boy’ had the largest number with 66 and the smallest number of categorized movements was Tiara’s ‘Lovey dovey’ with 19. A-Pink’s ‘Mr.Chu’ had the largest number of combined movements with 14. Difficulty according to BPM was set from 1 to 5. The choreography of Brown Eyed Girls’ ‘Love’ had the easiest level of difficulty with 184 points and a difficulty of 1 and the choreography of Twice’s ‘What is love’ had the highest level of difficulty with 449 points and a difficulty level of 5. Analyses of movements according to year showed that waist hand, finger one, and arm bounce were the most used movements for the upper body. With the lower body, the Pelvis side, Knee bend reach, and Leg kick up were analyzed to be the most often used movements. With other movements, the domino, pose, and foot spin were analyzed to be the most often used movements, and with characteristic point choreography, the shuffle dance, the suspenders dance, the gun dance, the makeup dance, and the horse dance were movements that were repeated at least once or more. This study was conducted to systematically categorize K-Pop girl group dance movements, which are difficult to recognize and of which there is a massive amount, as it was judged to be the most useful and efficient method. It seems possible to categorize all the K-Pop girl group dance movements categorized through this study into the 141 small category movements in the Tagging Panel. Such research results will be renewed as a popular culture industry which includes the various participating classes and music classes of K-Pop girl group dance when the current cultural contents of the 21st century are spread.
