기능적 음성장애를 지닌 전문 음성 사용인의 음질 향상 프로그램 개발 및 적용 Developing and applying a voice quality improvement program for professional voice users with functional voice disorders원문보기

Theater musical actors, professional voice users with a high frequency of long-term use of voice, are interested in methods to preserve voice quality because of the high risk of exposure to functional voice disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate to improve the voice quality and to reduce the risk of exposure to vocal fatigue and voice disorders, by developing and applying a program to improve the voice quality according to the principle of voice production. The voice quality can be analyzed with quantitative parameters, but the physical/psychological index of the voice that individuals are feeling is very subjective. Therefore, the study examined the statistical significance before and after applying the voice quality improvement program by collecting both the subjective voice test index and the objective voice test index of the theater musical actors with functional voice disorders. The voice quality improvement program was developed based on the principle of voice production, taking into consideration four functional aspects such as respiration, phonation, resonance, and articulation. This program includes a series of exercises using a correct posture having a great effect on respiratory function, measurement of respiratory function, respiratory muscle training, reading sentences with biting tongue depressor and phonation of sustained vowel for soft vocal cords contact and respiratory support, and Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract Exercises(SOVTEs) which help the vocal to change the length and shape of the vocal tract affecting the voice quality, and so on. The subjects for 10 students with functional voice disorders who are interested in acting as theater musical actors or who are studying in related departments were compared the results before and after the application of the program by using the Korean-Singing Voice Handicap Index (K-SVHI) and the Vocal Fatigue Index (VFI). As objective voice test tool, Praat was used to measure the speaking fundamental frequency (SF0) of sentence reading, jitter, shimmer, and HNR at the time of [a] Phonation of sustained vowel, and analyzed by the corresponding sample t test using SPSS. The results of the study showed that all of the indicators except the speaking fundamental frequency (SF0) improved after the application of the program. After applying the program, K-SVHI and VFI of the subjective evaluations and jitter, shimmer, and HNR of the objective evaluations were statistically significant. That the figures of the speaking fundamental frequency (SF0) are not statistically significant seems to be due that all subjects of theater musical actors who skillfully use the voice maintained their intended speaking fundamental frequency (SF0). Significant results from all other acoustic indicators suggest that there were one or more problems with the voice use habits and methods of the subjects who had or have the functional voice disorders, and mean that voice quality can be improved by modifying and training voice production steps such as respiration, phonation, resonance, and articulation.
