Therefore, it was deemed necessary for Korean and foreign container shipping companies to understand the factors of their understanding of the NSR and their decision on their entry to the NSR before they were prepared to enter the NSR. The AHP method was adopted as a research method for analyzing the importance of comparative analysis of the deciding factors on the advance of Korean and foreign container shipping companies into the NSR. For the purpose of the study, the literature survey on the existing Arctic Ocean and NSR and the literature on container shipping company and shipping company's organizations was conducted. Three types of research were conducted, based on a basic survey centered on Korean and foreign shipping companies officers and employees, in-depth interviews with managers of Korean and foreign container shipping companies, and by AHP method, a key method of this study, to analyze the decision factors on the advance of shipping company's entry into the NSR. First, the basic survey was conducted on employees of Korean and foreign container shipping companies, and compared with foreign container shipping companies and Korean container shipping companies for comparative analysis of the deciding factors on the entry of Korean and foreign container shipping companies into the For the purpose of the study, the literature survey on the existing Arctic Ocean and NSR and the literature on container shipping company and shipping company's organizations was conducted. The targets of AHP surveys were limited to high-ranking officials of Korean and foreign container shipping companies. Third, based on the survey conducted by the AHP method, a comparative analysis of the determinants of Korean and foreign container shipping companies advance into the Northern Sea Route(NSR) and verification was conducted through a consistency ratio in order to maintain consistency in the questionnaire. In addition to evaluating the questionnaires recovered by calculating the relative weights, the importance of optimal recognition of each element was calculated. This analysis consisted of cross-comparisons on the recognition of importance of foreign and Korean container shipping companies, and an evaluation of the importance of the whole container shipping companies. Through the survey results conducted by the AHP method, the critical factors of advancing into the NSR of container shipping companies and the recognition importance of container shipping companies were derived, and the importance of recognition was identified by dividing them into foreign container shipping companies and Korean shipping container companies.
