The background: Snack intake has both positive and negative sides according to the kinds of it and when it is eaten. When energy is supplied insufficiently, it can provide nutrients, but it can be also one of the causes of health problems. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors related to the snack intake of adolescent girls.
Methods: A self-administered questionnaire was used to conduct a survey to 327 adolescent girls attending a high school located in Gyeonggi to investigate their dietary habits, lifestyles, degree of obesity, dietary self-efficacy, stress, weight control experience, and status of snack intake. Data collected went through analysis by using SPSS 24.0 to perform ANOVA and the chi-square test.
Results: Regarding the factors of snack intake, the status of snack intake, factors related to snack purchase, intake frequency, and preference show difference according to the factors associated with dietary self-efficacy, stress level.
Conclusions: Dietary self-efficacy of female adolescents was found to be highly related to snack intake.
