The purpose of this study is to explore the causal relationship of mindfulness, dyadic empathy, enjoyable couple activity and common dyadic coping with marital satisfaction, and the direct impact of mindfulness and dyadic empathy on the marital satisfaction of newly married women as well as the indirect impact through enjoyable couple activity and common dyadic coping. The subjects of the study are 315 women who have been married less than six years in Busan. For data analysis, the methods such as frequency, Cronbach α, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and path analysis using multiple regression were used. The SPSS Statistics 25 program was used to analyzed the collected data. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, mindfulness, dyadic empathy, enjoyable couple activity and common dyadic coping of newly married women had positive correlation with marital satisfaction. Second, both mindfulness and dyadic empathy directly affected marital satisfaction and indirectly affected marital satisfaction through enjoyable couple activity and common dyadic coping. This suggests that in marital relationship, mindfulness and dyadic empathy of newly married women enhance enjoyable couple activity and common dyadic coping, thereby leading to higher marital satisfaction. This study has significance in three aspects. First, it classifies the factors that affect marital satisfaction of newly married women into personal and marital relationship factors. Second, it is the first study carried out domestically and internationally to highlight the relationship of mindfulness and dyadic empathy of newly married women with common dyadic coping and enjoyable couple activity. Third, it identifies positive elements of successful marriage based on positive psychology.
