A floating hologram, called a pseudo hologram or projection hologram, has the effect of floating a 2D image in the air by a reflector. Recently, it has been widely used for performances such as concerts, musicals, and teleconferencing. Transparent screens, commonly called half-mirrors or foils, are commonly used as methods for spatial projection in floating holograms. These two methods have the problem that the half mirror or the transparent foil must be tilted at 45 degrees and that the screen must be installed on the floor or the ceiling, thus requiring a larger installation area than a normal screen. The method of using the Sharkstooth Scrim can be installed vertically like a normal screen. The sham screen has a float effect as well as efficiency of space usage compared to a method using a half mirror or a transparent foil. However, since the transmitted image is projected on the back wall surface, the same image is formed on the back wall surface. Holograms that use interference and diffraction to the present technology are still hardcopy 3D images that can be seen sitting on a wall or desk. Video hologram technology is making great strides, but there is still a long way to go for small - scale commercial applications. With the recent development of various projection technologies and spatial displays, current floating hologram systems are expected to bridge the goals of video holograms using interference and diffraction. Floating hologram technology, known to the public as holograms, is constantly evolving, utilizing high-resolution shooting, incredible CG work using band actors, special effects, and high-output projectors. However, the content currently used in floating holograms is still 2D, though the main character or object is helping the illusion that the object is in space by moving around and showing its other parts. Building a system that uses a new way of projecting stereoscopic 3D without glasses can be quite effective and attractive, and anyone who has not seen the actual hologram will believe it to be a hologram. In this paper, we propose a novel floating 3D hologram display method for viewing stereoscopic 3D images without glasses. The background image and the object image were separated, and then projected onto two screens so as not to overlap each other using the polarization characteristic. The rear screen and the front screen of the system are spaced apart at regular intervals, and the background image is displayed on the rear screen and the object image is displayed on the front screen. According to the polarization characteristics, the background image and the object image on the front side were perfectly separated from each other, and the stereoscopic 3D effect could be realized by the binocular parallax according to the distance difference of the two screens. The observer sees the background and the object superimposed on each other, and the stereoscopic 3D effect of the glasses can be felt by the binocular parallax which occurs according to the interval of the two screens. The proposed non-glasses polarized floating 3D hologram system reduces the brightness of the content image by the polarizing filter attached to the front projector and the polarizing filter behind the screen. Experiments were carried out to measure the change in intensity of the background image and the object image according to the installation method of the proposed system. We analyzed the intensity and spectral data using the exposure meter and spectrometer, and presented the guidelines for the optimal image content production. We expect to expand the market of floating hologram by implementing this system which can enjoy stereoscopic 3D effect without glasses.
