1) NaOH/Thiourea 수용액, tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAH), tetrabutylphosphonium hydroxide (TBPH), and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([Emim][Ac])를 용매로 하여 셀룰로오스 필름과 마이크로비드를 제작하였다.

Cellulose is the most abundant biopolymer and has high chemical, thermal and mechanical stability. However, cellulose is difficult to dissolve in common solvents due to the hydroxyl groups which can form hydrogen bond networks, and it has deficient functional groups. In this work, cellulose-based biopolymer composites which have various functionality were prepared using biopolymer-dissolving solvents. Physicochemical properties of cellulose-based biopolymer composites were highly dependent on the kind of blended biopolymer and regeneration process. 1) celluloses were fabricated using aqueous NaOH/thiourea, tetrabutylammonium hydroxide, tetrabutylphosphonium hydroxide, and 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium acetate ([Emim][Ac]) as solvents. Compared with the native cellulose, the reconstituted cellulose films showed decreased crystallinity and enhanced thermal stability. Physical properties such as size, density, and surface characteristics of magnetic cellulose microbeads were changed by using different solvents. In particular, cellulose microbeads prepared using [Emim][Ac] showed the highest activity recovery after immobilization of lipase. 2) cellulose was blended with polysaccharides, lignocelluloses, and proteins to prepare various composite films which have different physicochemical properties such as composition, thermal stability, hydrophilicity, surface charge, and cytotoxicity. The adsorption capacity for dyes and proteins of blended biopolymer composite films were highly dependent on the kind of blended biopolymers. 3) biopolymer-based composites were fabricated into millimeter and micrometer sized beads. Cellulose/carrageenan hydrogel beads were prepared using mixture of [Emim][Ac] and DMF. Adsorption capacity of cellulose/carrageenan hydrogel beads for crystal violet was significantly higher than that of cellulose hydrogel beads. The adsorption capacity increased with the increasing carrageenan content. cellulose-based magnetic biopolymer microbeads were also prepared through sol-gel transition. Surface properties of the microbeads were altered by blended biopolymer. In particular, cellulose/ alkali lignin and cellulose/starch magnetic microbeads were identified as efficient supports for lipase immobilization. Furthermore, biopolymer/ TiO2 hydrogel beads were prepared and they showed adsorption capacity and photodegradation ability for various dyes. Especially, dye removal ability of biopolymer/ TiO2 hydrogel beads were affected by hydrogel size, blended additives and bead composition. In conclusion, the cellulose-based biopolymer composites can be fabricated into customized materials via biopolymer blending using ionic liquids and have many potential applications in the pharmaceutical, biological, chemical, environmental, and food fields due to biocompatible and biodegradable properties of biopolymer.
