Correlation among hip extension range of motion, hip extension asymmety[i.e. asymmetry], pain intensity, disability index, compensatory lumbar movement in nonspecific chronic low back pain patients원문보기

Background/Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation between hip extension ROM, hip extension asymmetry, pain intensity, disability index, and compensatory lumbar movement in non-specific chronic low back pain patients. Method : Of the 66 subjects with non-specific chronic low back pain and hip extension limit, 59 patients who met the inclusion criteria were selected. The subjects measured pain intensity, Oswester Disability Index, hip range of motion, compensatory lumbar extension and compensatory lumbar rotation. The analysis method was correlation analysis. Result : There was a strong correlation between limited hip extension ROM and compensatory lumbar rotation (p <.05). Strong correlation with hip extesnion assymetry, pain intensity, and disability index was established (p <.05). Conclusion : These results indicate that the greater the asymmetry of the hip extension, the higher the pain and disability index, which is a result of increased micro trauma and mechanical stress in the lumbar spine because of increased compensatory lumbar rotation due to the limited hip extension.
