Nine middle and high school shooters (age: 16.44±1.51 years, height: 174.7±3.54 cm, mass: 68.1±4.81 kg, experience: 3.2 year) oluntarily participated in this study. The inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor (Physiolog®, Gait-up, Swizland) was attached on the underside of the barrel and used for collecting kinematic data of gun barrel with sampling rate of 256 Hz. All subjects performed 60 shoots within 90 minutes like the routines of official shooting game. The IMU sensor recorded the continuous data of three directional accelerations (X, Y, Z axis) and three angular velocities during 90 minutes. The collected data was analyzed in commercial numerical analysis software (Matlab® 2017b, MathWorks Ltd., USA). The passed through the filtering process. The collected signals of IMU sensor were dissected into preparation time, gun lifting time, and target aiming time per repeated shooting. Each acceleration and angular velocity of pitching (head-up and –down of the barrel) and yawing (left and right motions in horizontal plane) motions between two groups (top three players vs. bottom three players in obtained shooting scores) was compared. In addition, the 30% high-score shoots and 30% low-score shoots within each subject were compared in terms of barrel motion kinematics. The top-three player showed longer durations of lifting and aiming times than those of low-three players. In addition, there was a significant difference on pitching angular velocity in lifting gun between two groups. Within personal data, the results of comparison between 30% high-score and 30% low-score shoots indicated the only significant differerence of standard devation of pitching angular velocity in lifting gun motions for subjects S01, S07, and S09. In aiming motion, subjects S02, S03, S04, S05, S07, S08, S09 revealed significant differences on the standard deviations of yawing angular velocity. According to the above results, the IMU sensor could show the cause and effect of the movement before the aiming phase as well as the aiming phase on the obtained scores. In the future, if the inertial sensor is used well, it is possible to accumulate big data easily for individuals and teams, and to provide objectively the kinematic results associated with the obtained scores.
