In this study, pitch based ACF(Activated carbon fiber) based on PFO(Pyrolysis Fuel Oil) was synthesized. Heat treatment was performed al 340 ℃ for 6 hr, and the spinning was done al 180 °C. Thereafter, stabilization was performed aL 240 ℃ under air condition and pitch-based ACF samples were produced with respect to 6 hr of duration time and heating rate of 1 ℃/min. Finally, 5 wt% of TEDA (Triethylenediamine) was impregnated on the surface of samples. Samples were prepared by differing the treatment condtion, such as the heat treatment, stabilization, carbonization and impregnation of TEDA. BET (Brunauer- Emmett-Teller), SEM(scanning electron microscope), and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) were employed to investigate the synthesis conditions of samples. GC(Gas chromatography) was adopled to evaluate the Langmuir and the Freundlich isotherms. TEDA doped TACF(TEAC-ACF) and TAC(TEDA-AC) revealed decrement in the specific surface areas, which implies that amine functional groups were developed. TACF and TAC were found to have better adsorption capacity compare to the samples without TEDA treatment in both dry and wet conditions. Lastly, qmax values from the Langmuir and the Freundlich isotherms showed that TACF showed better adsorption capacity than the samples without TEDA treatment.
