This study aims to implement a system allowing automatic recognition of players and record of their location information in the video of badminton single match. To be specific, this study was carried out from three perspectives as follows: Study I, as a phase of establishing a model to recognize a player appeared in the video, conducted a model learning by applying deep learning technology, and developed an appropriate model through the final model evaluation. Study II, as a phase of model application, saved the tracking results in the data base and assessed the accuracy of player recognition by applying the real match video that was not used for model development to the location tracking system of the player. Study III, as a phase of model verification, was intended to verify reliability of location tracking system of badminton players, by analyzing coincidence of the result value between the observation data directly collected as an analysis method of the game of the previous study and the value obtained from the system proposed by this study. The research methods obtained by three perspectives and the consequent results can be summarized as follows: Study I used 500 learning data and 60 test data to develop a deep learning model allowing the location tracking of badminton players of single match. According to the results, 100 models accounted for 90.0 % in mAP score, while 300 models showed 95.83 %. On the other hand, 500 learning data models, which is the final model, turned out to reach high performance of 98.33 %. For this reason, this study reached the conclusion of which it is required to have at least 500 learning data to track badminton players of single match. Study II carried out research oriented to videos of six games that had not been used, to make real application of the model developed in Study I. According to the results, the total number of video frames used was 334,654, and the frames that achieved successful recognition reached 321,235 while 13,419 frames failed to recognize the player. Accuracy level of recognition of the player reached 95.86 % when applying the match video for real. To verify the location tracking system of badminton players of single match. Study III carried out comparative verification of results values between the observation value collected directly by me, in quality of researcher and the value obtained from the system. The results show that the result value of 3,169 out of the entire 3,537 strokes of six matches in total coincided. The system accuracy turned out to be 89.59 %. Combining the analysis results, it was possible to confirm that the system proposed by this study was tracking the badminton players in the real match video in a stable manner. It is expected to have the automated record system of badminton matches in the future.
