This study started by looking through the lens of art educators who are the main subjects of education in order to encourage qualitative growth in culture and arts education. In previous studies, research has been conducted on the basis of professional recognition and development direction stemming from the aspect of institution. It has been more than 7 years since Cultural Arts Education Teachers were established, but the educational frame or direction supporting their identity is still vague and ambiguous. In order to make meaningful education programs and establish effective policies, we must focus on art educators. Researchers have seen art educators as a lifelong educator, and know how educational behavior can be understood by looking at what life experiences they have achieved. Therefore, this study aims to understand the educational experiences of art educators' lives as a study on the meaning exploration of arts education experiences of cultural arts educators. The research questions set to achieve the research objectives are as follows. First, what is your educational experience as an artist? Second, what is your experience in art education as a cultural arts education teacher? Third, what meaning did you find through your experience in arts education? Based on qualitative research methods, this research was carried out by interviewing those who acquired a cultural and arts education history early on and were also actively working in arts education as an arts instructor through intentional sampling. Instructors who had more experience and could share their stories were selected to hear various experiences. In-depth interviews were conducted through the narrative exploration method, and from the initial selection of the research topic set in November 2018, interviews commenced in February 2019, and proceeded until June 2020. The results of were categorized and analyzed by using coded data and are organized as follows. Each theme was drawn with , , and . First, Art educators who dreamed of becoming artists and tried to transfer their thoughts and values into their artwork have gone through a time of artistic exploration. Through the interview, they shared new concepts and stories through their experienced aesthetic experiences with life experiences. Through their understanding of basic concepts of art, indirect experiences in art education, they expressed their emotions with a third language within themselves. Second, Art educators cultivated educational passion in the role of an educator who incidentally started teaching art as a secondary means of art activity. Through communicating with fellow instructors and artists, they went back to their class, got inspired by educational methods, and started imagining various things about art. The desire to make educational content and the desire for professional education made them study and come closer with others. Art educators were focusing on the meaning of different interpretations in the context of art where there is no correct answer. Third, Culture and art education is a medium that inspired art educators to reflect on their life and how to live. Although it is difficult to understand the big meaning of cultural and art education, they gradually cultivated their educational philosophy through art education. They showed hints of plans to try new things little by little, rather than doing things alone, such as education, planning, and performances. Educational practice did not take them away from the arts, but instilled more stimulation and desire for ‘getting active art’. They showed affection and interest in others, not only themselves, and internalized the context of art. Taken together, cultural art educators' exploration of the meaning of art education experiences is a process understanding the interest of beings who strive in one corner of the world. Art educators have continued their process of reflection as instructors based on their experience as learners of art. Their idea of art has expanded, and the emotions and energies that started in them alone gradually expanded to others. As an art educator, they did not stop producing art, but shared the value of art with many people and started to imagine various things about art. Art educators have reconstructed their values and perspectives of art, rather than experiencing a transformation of identity in the process of existential reflection. The implications of the above study are as follows. First, this study showed the experience of art educators who has been dreaming of becoming an artist and received professional education and their life story of becoming an art educator through their own philosophy. Second, this study showed overall what kind of educational experience they had as an art educator and how that became the power to move forward. Third, this study suggests an appropriate direction for cultural and arts education through the life reflections and educational insights of art educators. Fourth, the stories in this study revealed through the narratives of cultural and arts educators can serve as an intermediary to enable reflections for many people in the field of cultural arts policy makers, preliminary cultural arts educators, and cultural arts educators in the field.
