The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of counselors and parents about the helpful experience of parental counseling conducted only with parents without direct child intervention. And It is to explore the contents of parental counseling by family counseling experts, the counseling process, and essential factors to seek the directionality of Systemic Parental Counseling. For this purpose, the first study examined the perception of parental counseling helpful experience using the concept mapping method for 15 counselors and 12 parents, and second, the data collected by seven family counseling experts were analyzed using Nvivo 12, a type of the qualitative data analysis software CAQDAS (Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis Software). The outcomes of this research are as follows. First of all, I draw up a concept map by using the final statements of 15 counselors and 12 parents in parental counseling with parents without intervention of children. Through multidimensional scaling method and cluster analysis resulted in two dimensions and six clusters (counselors), and 3 clusters(parents) about ‘the recognition of helpful experience of parental counseling’. Parent's the first dimension about recognition of helpful experience of parental counseling is named as ‘the counselor's professional attitude’ and ‘positive alteration of children’ and second dimension is named as ‘parents role-recognition and parents personal-recognition’. Through cluster analysis is classified as 6 clusters about recognition of helpful experience of parental counseling of counselors. The six clusters named ‘Cluster 1 : Positive alteration of children behavior’ , ‘Cluster 2 : Positive alteration of parents recognition or attitude about children’, ‘Cluster 3 : The confidence and role recognition of parents by self-understanding’, ‘Cluster 4 : The performing effort and willing-to-change of parents’, ‘Cluster 5 : The aggressive counseling-participating of parents’, ‘Cluster 6 : The positive change of husband-wife relationship’. Through cluster analysis is classified as 3 clusters of parents. The three clusters named ‘Cluster 1 : The self-understanding and inner-growth of parents’, ‘Cluster 2 : The expertise and counseling-effect of reliable counselor’, ‘Cluster 3 : The positive alteration of family relationship’. In results of analyzing concept map, have also confirmed that there are positive changes in overall family relationships as well as children through parental self-understanding and internal growth even if children fail to participate in counseling. Among the counselors who participated in the concept map method study, seven family counseling experts who conducted parental counseling from a systemic perspective were interviewed by the Focus Group. The Focus Group interviews were conducted over the first and second rounds, and the collected qualitative data were analyzed as Nvivo 12 and the results were as follows. In the first interview, the categories of parental counseling experience, which are conducted only with parents without direct child intervention by family counseling experts, consisted of a total of five sub-sections: ‘Reasons for failure to intervene in children’, ‘intervention that was effective in parental counseling’, ‘progress of parental counseling’, ‘difficulties in parental counseling’ and ‘how to resolve difficulties in parental counseling’. As a result of Nvivo's analysis of ‘seeking the directionality of Systemic Parental Counseling’, the topic of the Focus Group II, the main areas under this theme were are as follows ; ‘parent role in Systemic Parental Counseling’, ‘confusion in the clinical field of parent counseling’, ‘essential factors to be addressed in Systemic Parental Counseling’, ‘the directionality of Systemic Parental Counseling in social change’. Research participants defined the role of parents in Systemic Parental Counseling as ‘adaptive parent’. The study was conducted with the idea that the change in the family system to which children belong is the most important premise in solving children's problems. The results of this study showed that Systemic Parental Counseling enables positive improvement in overall family relations and problem solving for children who have difficulty in direct intervention, when parents practice adaptive parent roles through self-understanding and growth. The various family-structure in rapidly changing world indicate to us that we should concern about the role of fosterer and also should consider deeply about ‘social parenting’, over the biological definition of ‘parents’. Through this practical effort, this study looked at the helpful experience of parental counseling without direct child intervention and sought the direction of Systemic Parental Counseling in the future. In addition, it proposed an adaptive parent role that sensitively adapts to changes in the social environment of the parents themselves, their children, their families, and finds their role.
