K-pop and K-pop dance is the representative popular culture in Korea. In the 2000s, the most symbolic news for promoting K-pop to the world was that Psy's "Gangnam Style" ranked second on the Billboard HOT100 chart in 2012, which combines weekly singles and album performances in the U.S. The reason for the popularity of "Gangnam Style" was the horse dance that was more important than any other facts. It can be inferred that horse dance 'flash mob' have gained unprecedented popularity in many countries around the world, including New York and Paris. The U.S. Billboard chart (English) is at the center of the global pop music as it is the most popular and recognized for its public confidence among music charts. Therefore, many musicians aim to make it to the chart. Among Korean idol singers on Billboard, Wonder Girls' "Nobody" (2008) was the first group and song that successfully debuted into the U.S. Billboard Chart. Wonder Grils' got a good score and behind it, the contribution of the bullet dance cannot be ignored. The horse dance in "Gangnam Style" and the bullet dance in "Nobody," which were emphasized in the dance movement, are called the point choreography, which became generalized in the 2000s when K-pop music choreographers used the term "point choreography" in the 1990s. Point choreography is generally perceived to have been created in the 2000s with the popularity of K-pop and idol dances, but it began in the late 1970s. Singer, Lee Eun-Ha performed the stabbing dance while singing the disco genre song "Night Train" (1978), which gained popularity from children to adults. In the 1980s, when Park Nam-Jeong sang "Drawing You," the 'ㄱㄴ' dance was a hit among elementary school students. Later in the 1990s, as Hyun Jin-Young and Wawa gained popularity by performing rabbit dances while performing "Sad Mannequin" (1990), producers in the music industry gradually recognized that point choreography is an important factor in the hit song. Later, K-pop producers introduced Point Choreography to non-dance music, such as pinocchio dance, Lee Sang-Woo singing "100m Before Meeting Her"(1990) and Tae Jin-Ah danced Ttabong dance when he sang "A Woman Who Can't See the Mirror"(1990). This series of events shows that Point Choreography was introduced throughout the music industry as of 1990. The signature choreography, which can be called the symbol of point choreography, can be listed as Lula's hip dance, Clone's glow-in- the-dark dance, and Kim Hyun-Jung's turn-around dance. After that, the point dance was widely introduced to the idol groups. When H.O.T. released their new song Candy (1996), they performed the hammer dance and the power racer dance, and Wonder Girls performed the stabbing dance in their song, "Tell Me" (2007). Kara's hip dance and Girls' Generation's jegichagi dance also became popular. The Point Choreography reached the top as Psy's horse dance was known worldwide. It can be seen that the Point Choreography played an important role in the development of Korean songs into idols and K-pop, as listed, and based on this, the paper drew the following conclusions. There are three reasons for K-pop's popularity dance music. First, dance music which popular in the age of 20s who purchase albums. Second, perfectly in sync dance performance throughout the training before their debut. Third, Point Choreography that attracts the public attention. Among them, foreign press and the media points out that Wonder Girls' bullet dance and Psy's horse dance were the most popular reasons than other factors. The reason is that when people listen to K-pop, they easily remember the point choreography that appears in the hook part of the chorus. Since then, K-pop producers have constantly introduced point choreography and it has been in use to date. Although the point choreography is an important factor, it has been relatively out of importance over lyricists and composers. The reason is that they were not protected by copyright, and the financial treatment of choreographers and backup dancers have not improved. Therefore, in order for K-pop to continue to remain popular in the world, it is necessary to establish an environment where the issues of point choreography can be solved and studied. Researchers need to start full-scale research and record it through papers and books to start with. With all these processes, it is expected that our junior dancers and choreographers will be able to create a new choreography by referring to recorded materials.
