유연 전자소자개발은 웨어러블 기기의 확대와 함께 지속적으로 수요가 증가하고 있다. 이러한 목적의 유연 전자소자는 생체 적합성, 신축성, 접착성, 내구성 등이 요구된다. 형상의 변형이 자유로운 액체 금속은 유연 전자 소자 구현을 위한 유용한 전극 재료이다. 특히, 인듐과 갈륨 공융합체의 경우, 녹는점이 15.5℃로 상온에서 액체 상태를 유지하며, 수은과 달리 독성이 없으면서 비저항이 29.4X10-6Ω·cm 로 전기 전도성이 우수하다. 하지만, 표면장력이 물보다 높은 630mN·m-1 으로 자유로운 패터닝에 한계가 있다. 유연전자소자의 기판 재료로써 하이드로겔은 모노머의 구성에 따라서 기계적 성질의 개질이 쉬우며, 짧은 시간 내 간단한 공정으로 합성이 가능한 장점이 있다. 또한, 삼차원 망상 구조로 목적과 필요에 따라 스웰링과 디스웰링을 반복해서 조절할 수 있는 생체적합성이 우수한 유용한 소재이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 하이드로겔과 액체 금속의 구조 조절에 관한 연구를 진행하여 유연 전자 소자에 응용하였다. 먼저, 액체금속과 하이드로겔을 복합체 형태로 형성하여 Printable 하고 Rewritable 한 전극 특성을 구현하였다. 이를 위해 하이드로겔 단량체 종류별 특성 및 기계적 강도에 대한 기초 연구를 진행하고, 수백 μN 정도의 힘으로 복합체 표면을 activation 시킬 수 있는 조성을 도출했다. 또한, UV 경화 전 하이드로겔 용액 내에서 구상 입자로 분산된 액체금속의 직경과 침강 속도의 관계를 연구하여 액체금속 입자가 하이드로겔 내에서 한쪽 면으로 완전히 상 분리된 된 복합체구조를 구현했다. 나아가 하이드로겔의 가역적인 스웰링 특성을 연구하여, 표면 전기전도성 조절에 응용하였다. 이러한 기초연구를 통해 자유롭게 액체금속을 printing 하면서 rewritable 한 특성의 구조를 구현함으로써 하나의 복합체로 복잡한 과정과 유해한 용매없이 다양한 패턴을 반복해서 패터닝하고 지울수 있는 전극을 만들었다. 또한, 액체금속의 형태가 자유로운 특징을 활용하여 신축성이 큰 전극을 구현을 연구하였다. 먼저, 하이드로겔에 신축성을 향상시킬 수 있는 구조에 대해 연구하고, 단량체를 개질하여 고신축성 하이드로겔을 합성했다. 이때, 액체금속 표면의 산화막과 상호작용하는 작용기에 대한 기초연구를 통하여, 표면장력이 큰 액체금속이 하이드로겔 표면에 바로 패터닝 되고, 더 나아가 하이드로겔과 같이 반복적으로 신축성을 갖을 수 있는 구조를 구현했다. 선행 연구들에 신축성 전극에 대한 보고는 많이 되어 있지만, 필러로 금속을 이용할 경우 초기 전기전도성은 좋으나 인장 신율이 증가할수록 저항이 크게 증가하고, 이온 복합체를 이용할 경우 초기 전기 전도성 자체가 낮은 한계가 있었다. 본 논문에서는 10 배 이상의 반복적인 신축성을 갖으면서, 전기전도성이 수배 이내의 변화를 갖는 전극에 대한 연구를 진행하여, 미래의 형상 변형 전자기기의 실현에 큰 기여를 할 것으로 기대된다.

The demand for the development of flexible electronic device continues to increase with the expansion of wearable devices. Flexible electronic devices are sought for their biocompatibility, elasticity, adhesion, and durability. Liquid metal with free-shape deformation is a useful electrode material for fabricating flexible electronic devices. In particular, the melting point of the indium and gallium eutectic is 15.5 °C, maintaining a liquid state at room temperature. Unlike mercury, it is not toxic and has a specific resistance of 29.4×10-6 Ω cm and has excellent electrical conductivity. However, there is a limit to free patterning, as its surface tension is 630 mN·m-1, which is higher than that of water. As a substrate material for flexible electronic devices, hydrogels, as monomers, have easily modified mechanical properties and are simple to synthesize within a short time. In addition, hydrogel has excellent biocompatibility that can repeatedly control swelling and deswelling with a three-dimensional network structure according to purpose and need. Therefore, in this study, an analysis on the structural control of hydrogels and liquid metals was conducted and applied to flexible electronic devices. First, a liquid metal and a hydrogel were formed in a composite to realize printable and rewritable electrode characteristics. To this end, basic studies on the characteristics and mechanical strength of each type of hydrogel monomer were conducted, and a composition capable of activating the composite surface with a force of several hundred μN was derived. In addition, by studying the relationship between the sedimentation rate and the diameter of the liquid metal dispersed as spherical particles in the hydrogel solution before UV curing, a composite structure in which liquid metal particles were completely phaseseparated on one side in the hydrogel was implemented. Furthermore, the reversible swelling characteristics of the hydrogel were studied and applied to control the surface electrical conductivity. Through this basic research, electrode structure designed that can repeatedly form and erase various patterns without complicated processes and harmful solvents in one complex by creating a structure with rewritable characteristics via printing liquid metal. In addition, a study was conducted to implement an electrode with high elasticity by utilizing the free form of liquid metal. First, a structure capable of improving the elasticity of the hydrogel was studied and a highly elastic hydrogel was synthesized by modifying the monomer. Next, through basic research of functional groups interacting with the oxide film on the liquid metal surface, a liquid metal with high surface tension was directly patterned on the hydrogel surface, resulting in a structure with elasticity similar to that of a hydrogel. Although there have been many previous reports on stretchable electrodes, when a metal was used as a filler, the initial electrical conductivity was good, but the resistance increased as the tensile elongation increased, and when an ionic composite was used, the initial electrical conductivity was limited. . By conducting research on electrodes that have elasticity over repeated deformations (more than 10 times) and whose electrical conductivity changes within several cycles of deformation, this study is expected to make a significant contribution to the future realization of shape-modifying electronic devices.
