In Korea, the slope revegetation is carried out by schedule of construction site rather than the sowing period considering the growth characteristics of plants so that resulting error in germination and ground covering. This study was initiated to resolve these error and obtain information necessary for slope revegetation. The study was conducted for 30 days using 20 major plants for slope revegetation to discover germination power, speed, peak time and pattern of each plant. Also, the study was conducted at 4 different temperature conditions(Experiment I: 5∼15℃, Experiment II: 10∼20℃, Experiment III: 15∼25℃, Experiment IV: 20∼25℃) to find out appropriate temperature of each plant. The light conditions were 8-hr light(09:00am∼17:00pm) and 16-hr dark(17:00pm∼09:00am). As a result, daily germination rate, germination power, speed and peak time were different statistically in Experiment I to IV. Germination power was 0.00%(Experiment I, Lespedeza bicolor) to 96.75%(Experiment III. Cosmos bipinatus). The shorter germination speed, the more effective for slope greening. The first germination date was 1∼2(Experiment IV. Cosmos bipinatus) to 29∼30(Experiment I. Cosmos sulphureus sp.) days, days to the 30% germination was 2.88(Experiment IV. Cosmos bipinatus)∼29.13(Experiment I. Festuca arundinacea Schreb. ‘GazelleⅡ') days. In addition, the germination peak time from 30% to 60% in germination was from 0.64(Experiment III. Lolium perenne L. ‘SilverDollar') to 7.46(Experiment II. Zinnia elegans) days. In morphological characteristics in seedling stage, seed coat cracking was generated in 1∼16 days, radicle was emerged in 1∼19 days and cotyledon emergence was at 2∼18 days. Generally the fast first germination, the fast emergence was occurred. On the other hand, normal leaf emergence was observed according to the genetic characteristics of each plant, not the first germination date. Especially the first germination date and 30% germination speed of Gypsophila elegans was fast in Experiment I to IV, but can’t observe the normal leaf in all temperature conditions. On the other hand, Lespedeza bicolor’s first germination date was 3∼5 days slower than Gypsophila elegans, but can observe the normal leaf in Experiment I to IV. Based on this result of the study, Cosmos bipinnatus, Lolium perenne L. ‘SilverDollar' and Festuca arundinacea Schreb. ‘GazelleⅡ' would the best for slope greening in spring to fall seasons because of their fine germination characteristics. Four of the twenty plant entries including Centaurea cyanus L., Papaver rhoeas L., Gypsophila elegans, Cosmos sulphureus, are the most effective for slope revegetation in spring. Centaurea cyanus L., Papaver rhoeas L., Gypsophila elegans showed good germination characteristics in Experiment III so appropriate in early spring and fall. Then seven plant entries that Zinnia elegans, Cosmos bipinnatus, Cosmos sulphureus, Dianthus sinensis, Dianthus barbatus var. asiaticus Nakai, are suitable for slope greening in early summer.
