This study would find the impact of financial factors and corporate age on corporate growth from a resource-based perspective in the growth theory. Financial factors were divided into internal capital and external capital, and a comparative analysis was conducted with SMEs and large enterprises with different age and size characteristics and growth patterns. As for financial data in this study, 564 large enterprises, 694 SMEs, and 13,429 external audit enterprises were extracted from New Kis-Value of NICE Information Service as of January 31, 2020. In addition, the analysis period was 11 years from 2008 through 2018, and by pooling data, the data on 5,628 large enterprises, 6,922 SMEs, and 65,535 external audit enterprises were used. In addition, for an analysis, Stata 16 Statistical Analysis Software was used. The robustness could be increased by adding a random-effect model and fixed-effects model based on an ordinary least squares (OLS) regression analysis. The characteristics of the research results are summarized as follows, and the results were the same in the OLS regression analysis, the random-effect model and the fixed-effects model, and there were no differences in the analysis results by each model. First, concerning impacts on growth in SMEs, internal capital (return on total assets) did not have any impact, and a significant positive (+) impact on corporate growth could be found only in short-term loans. Also, business scale, a control variable, had a significant negative (-) impact in business scale. Second, the same results could be found in external audit enterprises as in the analysis SMEs. In external audit enterprises, internal capital (return on total assets) did not affect corporate growth while only short-term loans had a significant positive (+) impact on corporate growth. Also, business scale, a control variable, had a significant negative (-) impact. Third, concerning an impact on growth in large enterprises, a significant positive (+) impact could be found in internal capital (return on total assets) and long-term loans. Business history had a significant negative (-) impact. Fourth, different results were found for the financial elements affecting growth in SMEs and large enterprises. Especially, in SMEs and external audit enterprises, short-term loans and business scale had important impacts on growth while in large enterprises, return on total assets, long-term loans, and business history turned out to be the financial factors affecting growth. Meanwhile, the financial factors affecting growth revealed in this study policy support and the process of policy-making. The issue of corporates’ growth has a great significance in the country’s national economy as well as the corporates themselves. Therefore, understanding the financial elements affecting business growth is very important for policymakers, financial institutions, and corporate managers and has very great policy suggestions.
