In an automated factory environment using robots, the work spaces for humans and robots were separated for safety. In order to improve the use of space in the factory and productivity through cooperation between humans and robots, a newly established smart factory introduces a form of work in which humans and robots collaborate. In this human-robot collaboration environment, factory designers want to predict the productivity of the factory according to the arrangement of factory elements (people, machines, cooperative robots, etc.). Many factors are involved in predicting productivity, but the tack time is the most important, and the arrangement of factory elements is a major factor in minimizing this. Therefore, this paper defines the productivity prediction problem as a problem that minimizes the movement distance of the product and the movement distance of the worker, and develops a software that optimizes the arrangement of factory elements using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. It is assumed that the size and shape of the area where optimization will occur (process department) is in the form of a rectangle, and the initial arrangement of the factory elements is input by the factory designer. The PSO algorithm is an optimization method in which initially scattered particles find the optimal solution of the objective function through information exchange with each other. In this study, each particle is defined as a case of arrangement of factory element and the position and the direction of the factory elements are set as variables for sloving the optimization problem. The objective function is defineed as the sum of the product logistics movement distance and the workers movement distance, and the optimal arrangement is derived by comparing and analyzing the objective functions of the previous particle and the improved particle. Here, because the size of each factory element is different, the safety margin between factory elements is set as a constraint condition for optimization problem.
Through this study, the optimization software for factory element arrangement was developed using the PSO algorithm, and through this distance of the product movement and the that of worker movement were reduced compared to the initial arrangement.
