The study discusses that feminism reboots, which spread rapidly online in 2016, created Women's Film Fandom, an audience that supports Korean women's films. This is contrary to the claim that there must be irrational reasons for women to act as consumers. Women's Film Fandom supports the female narrative by demanding the representation of various women against the over-representation of male characters and the disappearance of female ones. There is an aspect of female narrative support, which is to imagine alternative female subjects while there is the other aspect of excessively censoring female characters to be separated from heterosexual relationships. Women's Film Fandom cannot be explained as a passive consumer, cinephile or a cult group. Instead, Women's Film Fandom is the active subject of the political consumer movement arguing for the politically and ethically correct representation of women. Besides, it shows the practice of idol fandom, which combines media fandom and celebrity fandom in form. Therefore, this study examines similarities and differences between Women’s Film Fandom, cinephile, and cult groups and analyzes how the Korean idol fandom was absorbed into Women's Film Fandom. Also, it explores the path where online feminism has transferred to the offline feminism movement and investigates the controversy about what female narratives are and the debate about what concepts of women are. Finally, this paper conducts discourse analysis using the in-depth interviews for participants in Women's Film Fandom activities as data onto qualitative research in order to understand the meaning they generate. They are going to the same movie over and over again, booking a movie ticket but never really watch, renting a movie theater for a special event, and fighting against trolling through the women’s film. Furthermore, this paper identifies the desire to collect film goods, Marketable Feminism, and Women’s Film Cinematic Universe. According to the study, Women's Film Fandom is an audience of unmarried women aged 20~30 that began to pay attention to the female agenda due to Feminism Reboot, expecting more female directors and female characters to appear as models in the Korean film industry. This work focuses on the female audience who has been underestimated in Korean film history by giving the name of Women's film fandom. This study will provide a meaningful direction for future audience research as well as empowering Korean female narrative films and audiences who watch and support them together.
