The purpose of this study is to present research on the characteristics of the domestic tourism industry, which is expected to change significantly after the Covid-19 crisis, through big data analysis. In preparation for the post-Covid-19 era, it is essential to analyze the characteristics of the tourism industry before and after Covid-19, and it is necessary to use these analysis results to establish various tourism marketing strategies.
To this end, we collected 8,727 data in 2019 and 8,814 data in 2020 using the TEXTOM program, and analyzed this data using various big data analysis techniques after refining it several times. In addition, big data from the Korea Tourism Data Lab was analyzed to provide objective results by utilizing private data from mobile communication data, credit card data, and navigation data.
Studies have shown that, first of all, the desire for travel remains after Covid-19. Second, I could see that it was activated as a domestic tourism center and preferred nature-oriented tourist attractions in overseas travel. Third, it has been confirmed that it favors non-face-to-face travel destinations that minimize contact with other travelers in nature, and has changed to a family-oriented one. Fourth, they preferred tourist attractions where they could enjoy outdoor activities in non-face-to-face and quiet places. Fifth, the number of visitors to the outside world remained on the decline, but the number of visitors to the local area remained on the rise. Sixth, the total consumption decline was small in areas where local visits increased, and rental cars remained on the rise. Seventh, sharply reduced shopping and food and beverage remained in recovery afterwards, with historical tourist attractions and sports less affected.
These results showed changes in tourism characteristics before and after Covid-19, and governments, local governments, and others aimed at revitalizing the tourism industry.
