In modern society, we live our lives while sharing many things with other people. As people begin to place higher value on experience rather than possessions simultaneous with the revitalization of the sharing economy, such a culture begins to increase the value of life by accumulating fellowship by having people share and communicate with each other information, objects and even spaces. Shared spaces in the city appear in a variety of forms including housing, office space, parking lots, public facilities, and miscellaneous entertainment spaces, as they approach us closely within our lives. As the appearance of housing undergoes changes into co-housing with the increase of one-person households—a problem rising in such a social environment—the kitchen, which previously formed an essential space for housing, became separated. Furthermore, with the increase in the demand to communicate and resolve needs by sharing kitchen space with people outside and thus minimizing the waste of food materials, interest in community-type shared kitchens naturally increased. The indiscriminate increase of community-type shared kitchen spaces due to increased interest led to those spaces becoming neglected. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to propose a community-type shared kitchen that revitalizes a sense of community with the area in a more advanced direction by analyzing the spatial forms of existing general community-type shared kitchen spaces and correcting the problems of existing forms of community-type shared kitchens. Therefore, the study analyzed various cases of spaces for existing community-type shared kitchens according to the purpose of the space, operating agent, participating agent, and spatial characteristics and arrived at the fact that the closed nature of shared kitchens and its consequent problems must be corrected by combining the strengths of each space, element, and characteristic in accordance with the analysis framework for community-type shared kitchens. Subsequently, the study then attempted to reestablish these spaces as spaces for community-type shared kitchens linked to the region and applied them to spatial design. The present thesis project applied the local characteristics of the Mullae Art Village to spaces, providing users with the sustainability of spatial use through the community-type shared kitchen program in an attempt to give them the convenience and sense of affiliation that come from community-type shared kitchens and propose a space wherein local residents form a community by finding relationships between each other. When designing a new area with a spatial proposal involving community-type shared kitchens, the study attempts to provide a direction for regional anchor spaces that apply characteristics that fit placeness.
